WPC loses fight with cancer

Kam­la Sir­joo-Ram­per­sad who served with the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice for six years has died while un­der­go­ing treat­ment for Stage Four Metasta­t­ic Breast Can­cer.

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice has re­leased the fol­low­ing re­lease, ex­tend­ing their con­do­lences.

“The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) is sad­dened by the pass­ing of No. 9143 WPC Kam­la Sir­joo-Ram­per­sad who lost the bat­tle to breast can­cer ear­li­er to­day.

On the news of her pass­ing, Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice, Gary Grif­fith and the Ex­ec­u­tive of the TTPS, have ex­tend­ed heart­felt con­do­lences to her fam­i­ly, friends, and col­leagues.

The TTPS will lend its sup­port to all be­reaved par­ties as much as it can dur­ing this try­ing time.

WPC Sir­joo-Ram­per­sad, 57, who was ail­ing from Stage Four Metasta­t­ic Breast Can­cer for a while, died at 10.30 am while un­der­go­ing treat­ment at a pri­vate hos­pi­tal.

She leaves to mourn her four chil­dren – Randy Ram­per­sad, 32, Ryan Ram­per­sad, 31, Richard Ram­per­sad, 29, and daugh­ter, Re­nee Ram­per­sad, 28. She al­so leaves be­hind one grand­daugh­ter.

“Kim­my, as she is af­fec­tion­ate­ly called, was a strong woman. She was a fight­er as she has been ail­ing with Stage Four Metasta­t­ic Breast Can­cer for a lit­tle over eight years.

She will be missed dear­ly by all who knew her,” said her son, Ryan.

WPC Sir­joo-Ram­per­sad was last at­tached to the Traf­fic and High­way Pa­trol Branch as a part-time Spe­cial Re­serve Po­lice (SRP) Of­fi­cer. She en­list­ed as a SRP in Ju­ly 2014.

She is, how­ev­er, al­so fond­ly re­mem­bered in her civil­ian ca­pac­i­ty at the Po­lice Stores.

Her col­leagues at the Fi­nance Branch re­mem­ber her as a pos­i­tive per­son with a fight­ing spir­it which al­ways in­spired them to be greater ver­sions of them­selves.”
