Minister of National Security Minister Stuart Young has started a defamation claim against UNC Senator Wade Mark concerning allegations made by Mark at a recent public meeting.

Attorneys for Young sent a pre-action protocol letter to Mark on Thursday regarding the matter.

The letter stated Mark made the allegations at a UNC meeting in Diego Martin on May 27.

The attorneys - JD Sellier and Co- said Mark alleged Young wrongly used his office as Minister to “corruptly/influence and/or wrongfully facilitate”the placement of substantial public funds held by Home Mortgage Bank, NFM and NIB, with NCB Global Finance in which Young’s brother Angus was Chief Executive Officer - CEO.

Young’s attorneys said the allegations were false and Young has no financial interest in NCB Global Finance.

The firm said Young only knew of the transactions on May 10 when queries were raised by UNC MP Roodal Moonilal.

The attorneys called for Mark to apologise and not to repeat the allegations and to pay Young’s legal costs in the matter.
