Reigning World Indoor Masters (Over-35) champions Gwendolyn Smith and Geraldine George led the way by capturing multiple titles at this year’s T&T Association of Masters Athletics (TTAMA) Track and Field Championships at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, on the weekend (August 23-24).
Smith secured five gold medals while George was a four-time winner at the two-day meet.
Smith, who won the 2025 World Indoor Masters women’s 60-64 javelin title in Florida, USA in March, was crowned national champion in the women’s 60-plus in the shot put (12.53), discus (28.09), javelin (34.34), hammer (26.62) and weight (12.28) throws. The multiple World Indoor and Outdoor Masters gold medallist got the better of Noelyn Toby-Davis in the shot put (8.22) and discus (23.57) while Cheryl Reyes took silver behind Smith in the hammer (22.56) and weight (8.22) disciplines.
George, who copped the World Indoor women’s 50-54 javelin honours, topped the field in the women’s 55-59 discus (37.65) and javelin (33.85) events and the 50-59 hammer (31.51) throws.
