Tobagonian Makeda Bain was the lone player to capture three titles when the curtain came down on the Sagicor Junior Tennis Tournament at the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua, Thursday (July 16).
First up, the top-ranked Bain claimed the Under-16 Girls Singles crown with a straightforward 6-0, 6-4 win over second-seeded Cyra Ramcharan before she stepped up to the U-18 Girls category to upset top-seeded Madison Khan 6-3, 6-0 for the second singles title on the day.
And in the U-18 Girls Doubles decider, Bain and Khan combined to defeat the Ramcharan sisters, Cyra and Suri, 6-1, 6-2.
The quintet of James Devaux, Eli Paty, Anaya Roberts, Oliver Harragin and Jack Brown all won two titles each to end the tournament on a high as well.
The unseeded Devaux started off his day with a stunning 4-2, 4-0 win over second-seeded Zephaniah Scipio in the U-10 Boys Singles final before he paired with Lucas Young for a 4-1, 4-0 beating of Scipio and Ryan Chan in the Co-Ed U-10 Doubles final.
Paty was also a double-winner in the Under-14 Boys age-group, beating second-ranked Justin Duncan 6-3, 7-5 for the singles crown, followed by his triumph with Ryan Steuart in the doubles against Favian Dates and Duncan, 6-1, 3-6, (10-7).
Roberts had a tough battle on her hands against Teijha Wellington before securing a 6-3, 1-6, (11-9) win in their U-14 Girls championship match before the duo, ranked number one, combined to power past second-seeded Suriya Ramdath and Amelia Woo, 6-2, 6-1, for the doubles crown.
Not to be overshadowed, boys' U-16 top seed Harragin swept past second-ranked Jack Brown 6-2, 6-3 to lift his age-group title and later combined with his rival to humble Luke Bellamy and Jaiden Gormandy 6-1, 6-1 in their doubles finale.
Brown made amends for missing out on the U-16 singles title by easing past Gormandy in the U-18 final 6-3, 6-3 for his second win on the day.
In the two other finals on the day, Ramdath overcame Amaia Waterstone 7-5, 6-1 in the Girls U-12 Singles while Liam Singh won the boys equivalent, 6-2, 6-0 over Holden Hadeed.
