​​Skip­per Bren­dan Boodoo’s man-of-the-match per­for­mance with both bat and ball led host Pre­sen­ta­tion Col­lege San Fer­nan­do (San­do) to a 38-run vic­to­ry over ri­val Na­pari­ma Col­lege at Lewis Street, Tues­day.

​The vis­i­tors elect­ed to bat first and en­joyed a dom­i­nant 118-run open­ing stand be­tween Riyaad Mo­hammed (73) and Levi Ghan­ny (60). Ghan­ny was the first ca­su­al­ty in the 16th over, hav­ing struck sev­en fours and three six­es be­fore be­com­ing the first of Ar­nal­do Prem­c­hand’s four wick­ets.

​His dis­missal brought Boodoo to the crease in his sec­ond year as cap­tain. The for­mer na­tion­al Un­der-15 and U-17 cap­tain and cur­rent West In­dies U-19 crick­eter slammed four fours and a six in his 80. He shared an 82-run part­ner­ship with Mo­hammed, who was dis­missed with the score at 200 for 2 in the 28th over.

​When Boodoo fell to Ar­i­on Mo­hammed in the 41st over at 249 for 5, the mo­men­tum shift­ed. Pre­sen­ta­tion fell at the mer­cy of Am­rit Pit­ti­man, who claimed 4 for 47. The 2023 dou­ble cham­pi­ons were ul­ti­mate­ly bowled out for 271 in 47.5 overs.

​In re­ply, "Naps" start­ed strong­ly and ap­peared to be cruis­ing at 72 for 2 in the 15th over as Jor­dan Julien (43) and Veer Ar­joon (36) com­bined for 34 runs af­ter Julien and Amit Chan (11) put on 38 for the open­ing stand. Boodoo even­tu­al­ly broke the mo­men­tum by re­mov­ing Julien.

Aa­di Ram­saran, like his op­pos­ing cap­tain, stood tall for his team and scored 62 with sev­en fours and two six­es, and shared in a 100-run stand with Ar­joon un­til Boodoo again in­ter­ject­ed with the wick­et of Ar­joon.

But Pre­sen­ta­tion struck with back-to-back wick­ets, get­ting both Ar­joon and Ram­saran with the score on 172 as they were sud­den­ly four wick­ets down, need­ing 100 runs to win from 75 balls.

Aaden Owen and Boodoo fin­ished with three wick­ets each as Na­pari­ma was bowled out for 215 for 9 in 43.5 overs to sur­ren­der a 38-run de­feat to their cross-town ri­vals.
