Apart from the support of its membership to change the name of the Central Football Association (CFA) to the Central Association for Football (CAF), the managers of the sport in central Trinidad are set to get the support for another term in office.
Randolph Boyce, the association president, whose commitment to the sport has also seen him take on the role of coach of Central Soccer World (CSW) and St Benedict's College in the Secondary Schools Football League, as well as national youth coach, said there is unfinished business in the central zone that they need to tend to when the annual general meeting (AGM) and elections are held on June 26.
Boyce's executive has been a driving force behind the return of youth football for the first time in over a decade, as well as a Youth Caravan initiative, which is focused primarily on the development of young players at all age levels.
Through Lystra Lara, who holds the position of Club Licensing Manager at the T&T Football Association, Competitions and Tournaments Manager at the Women's Football League, and assistant secretary and regional competitions manager at the CAF, the association plans to be an example for the other Regional Associations, such as the Northern FA, Southern FA, Eastern FA, Tobago FA and the Eastern Counties Football Union (ECFU).
She told Guardian Media Sports the association will be the first to encourage club licenses for all clubs in the zone.
"The CAF will take the lead position in ensuring that the quality of the game is lifted by clubs being properly compliant and licensed. It will only ensure betterment for the clubs," Lara said.
According to Lara, the association will also work on bettering the administration of clubs, and ensuring coaches' development and upgrade, saying that at the end of the day, it is not only about playing football, but rather, personal development takes place.
The CAF executives are already assured of another term, as no one expressed an interest in contesting the election by the deadline date of June 6. Lara said that it can only be an indication that their members are satisfied with the work they've done and the work they intend to do in the association.
Lara said the executive has made a few changes to strengthen its position and ensure maximum productivity that will redound to the betterment of the sport, including positioning Lara to contest the post of general secretary, while Ravi Ramgoolam, the then general secretary, will contest the secretary of Finance post which is a new position of the association.
Allan Logan will contest the first vice president, while Wendell Collymore will make way for Allan Ramjass to tackle the position of second vice president, as Collymore is expected to proceed on retirement.
The post of assistant secretary will be contested by Rhonda Felix, and the pair of Colville McSween and Paul David Noel will remain in their roles as ordinary members, with Boyce as the president.
Lara said the association, known as the CFA for many years, appeared to have never been registered with the Ministry of Legal Affairs, which forced them to have to change the name to the Central Association for Football (CAF).
