The Billiards Sports Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago held their awards ceremony to celebrate individuals and teams who distinguished themselves in competition over the past six months. It is the first time in the organisation’s history that the BSOTT awards function was dedicated to multiple competitions.
At the event, which was held at the Aquatic Centre on Saturday evening, awards were distributed for the National Pool League, the team knockout and the national men’s and women’s singles championships.
On the night, the United Stars were the big winners, taking home trophies and cash prizes for winning the NPL premier division title and the team knockout competition. The United Stars’ captain, Aaron Raghoonanan, apart from being his team’s MVP, was also named Player of the League. Sham Jagerssar and Lyndon Sahibram also took home special category awards.
Other teams taking home multiple awards were Cuetrollerz, who were led by Ravi Goorah. They placed second in the knockout and fourth place in the NPL premier division. The Sikarioz Billiards Club, which had two teams in both divisions, also doubled up on the night, placing third in the premier division, with Adrian Logie at the helm. Their first division team, captained by John Eastman, went one better by finishing second.
Staying in the first division, Raj Persad, also known as El Capitan, led the Roxbury Shot Callers to their first National Pool League title. Of the twenty-six matches played in the division, the ‘Shot Callers’ won twenty-two, the same as the team in second but copped the title by way of a better games aggregate, eighty-seven to the Sikarioz eighty-five. The Pocket Predators, led by Brian Stoddard, finished third, and Clifford Sookdeo, the ‘Predators’ MVP, was also named the Division 1 Player of the league. Crazy 8’s, captained by Rennie Mohammed, finished in fourth place.
Prizes were also given out for the National Men’s and Women’s individual 9-Ball Championships. Clint Bachan won the Men’s Championship, and Karen Ramcharan won the Women’s version. This was Ramcharan’s second national title in as many years, after winning the national 10-ball version of the game in 2024.
A full honour roll can be found at the bottom of this article.
The event was attended by the Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, Senator the Honourable David Nakhid, and Director of Sport Ag, Mr Patrice Charles. Mr Charles, who was described by BSOTT Public Relations Officer Adrian Mora as a friend of the organisation, spoke briefly on behalf of his office, and Senator Nakhid delivered the feature address. Senator Nakhid was also kind enough to distribute the prizes to the ladies who took part in the National Women’s 9-Ball. BSOTT President Reagan Low Chew Tung was extremely happy with how things turned out and was pleased to see over one hundred members in attendance.
