MI­A­MI, Flori­da – The cur­tains have closed on a thrilling 2025 Con­ca­caf Caribbean Cup, con­clud­ing with Ja­maica’s Mount Pleas­ant FA hoist­ing its maid­en tro­phy.

While the cham­pi­on etched its name in his­to­ry, in­di­vid­ual bril­liance shone across the re­gion, cul­mi­nat­ing in the of­fi­cial tour­na­ment Best XI, a squad dom­i­nat­ed by the fi­nal­ists, but sprin­kled with stand­out tal­ent from across the Caribbean.

The se­lec­tion, an­nounced by Con­ca­caf on the week­end, fea­tures the pil­lars of cham­pi­on Mount Pleas­ant, the re­lent­less en­gine of run­ners-up Uni­ver­si­dad O&M FC, and key fig­ures from Cibao FC and T&T’s De­fence Force.

The last line of de­fence for the cham­pi­ons was the first name on the team sheet. Ta­fari Cham­bers of Mount Pleas­ant FA was a ver­i­ta­ble wall, mak­ing 17 saves over eight match­es. His com­po­sure and clutch per­for­mances pro­vid­ed the foun­da­tion up­on which the ti­tle was built.

A blend of steel and dis­tri­b­u­tion de­fined the back four. Cibao FC’s cam­paign was an­chored by Ed­ward Reyes, whose all-ac­tion con­tri­bu­tions in­clud­ed 229 pass­es, 23 tack­les, and 12 in­ter­cep­tions. He’s joined by Mount Pleas­ant’s Jamoi Topey, a mod­el of con­sis­ten­cy over 545 min­utes.

The Span­ish con­nec­tion at Uni­ver­si­dad O&M FC proved for­mi­da­ble. Julen Olasagasti was a rev­e­la­tion, con­tribut­ing a stag­ger­ing 341 pass­es and, re­mark­ably, scor­ing in the Fi­nal, while al­so mak­ing 21 de­fen­sive in­ter­ven­tions. His team­mate Yoan Me­lo was an iron­man, log­ging 710 min­utes of steady, un­com­pro­mis­ing play.

The en­gine room show­cas­es both cre­ativ­i­ty and grit. O&M’s Span­ish con­duc­tor, Jon Tri­ca­do, dic­tat­ed play with 324 pass­es and chipped in two as­sists. For the cham­pi­ons, Ja­maican Jashaun An­glin was the dis­rup­tive force, com­bin­ing 225 pass­es with a team-high 26 tack­les.

The stand­out per­former in mid­field, how­ev­er, was Trinidad and To­ba­go vet­er­an Kevin Moli­no of De­fence Force. The tal­is­man se­cured third place and a 2026 Cham­pi­ons Cup spot al­most sin­gle-hand­ed­ly, fin­ish­ing with a tour­na­ment-best 388 pass­es, four goals, and two as­sists.

The for­ward trio is sim­ply elec­tri­fy­ing. Named the tour­na­ment’s Best Play­er, Mount Pleas­ant’s Daniel Green was the de­ci­sive spark, scor­ing two goals and an as­sist, with six of his nine shots find­ing the tar­get.

Along­side him is a record-break­er and the Gold­en Boot win­ner. Cibao FC’s Colom­bian strik­er Ri­val­do Cor­rea be­came the Caribbean Cup’s all-time lead­ing scor­er with 10 goals, net­ting four this year.

But even he was outscored by O&M’s Hait­ian sen­sa­tion Her­ard Frantze­ty, whose tour­na­ment-high five goals fu­eled his club’s fi­nal run. Frantze­ty scored in both semi­fi­nal legs and found the net in the ti­tle de­cider, ce­ment­ing his sta­tus as a big-game hunter.

CMC
