Ti­tle-hold­er Club San­do and De­fence Force will meet in a high­ly an­tic­i­pat­ed fi­nal of the T&T Women’s League Foot­ball (WoLF) at the Ato Boldon Sta­di­um in Bal­main, Cou­va, on Sun­day (June 6) from 6 pm.

This af­ter both teams se­cured com­fort­able semi­fi­nal wins at the same venue on Sun­day.

In the first fi­nal-four en­counter, Trinidad Zone run­ners-up Club San­do pow­ered past To­ba­go Chi­cas, the To­ba­go Zone win­ners, 7-0, in­spired by two goals each from the trio of Ah­keela Mol­lon, Afiyah Corn­wall and Orielle Mar­tin, while Rhea Bel­grave added the oth­er.

De­fence Force lived up to their pre-match favourites tag as Trinidad Zone win­ners with a 4-0 bash­ing of To­ba­go Zone run­ner-up Jew­els, led by two goals each from Aaliyah Prince and Niki­ta Go­sine.

Prince fired her team ahead in the 25th minute, and Go­sine dou­bled the ad­van­tage two min­utes in­to time added-on at the end of the first half.

On the re­sump­tion it was more of the same from De­fence Force, with Go­sine the first to com­plete her dou­ble in the 56th minute be­fore Prince sealed the vic­to­ry with her sec­ond of the con­test as well in the 78th to set up the in­trigu­ing fi­nal with their ri­vals.

It will be the fourth meet­ing of the sea­son be­tween De­fence Force and Club San­do, with the for­mer hav­ing won two of the three en­coun­ters, in­clud­ing their du­el in the San Fer­nan­do May­or’s Cup host­ed by the San Fer­nan­do City Cor­po­ra­tion in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the T&T Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion (TTFA) and the Sec­ondary Schools Foot­ball League at Skin­ner Park, San Fer­nan­do, last month.

In the women’s com­pe­ti­tion, De­fence Force got the bet­ter of ri­vals Club San­do 4-3 on sud­den-death penal­ty kicks af­ter a 1-1 draw in their ti­tle de­cider, while the oth­er win came in WoLF Trinidad Zone, with the oth­er match end­ing in a draw.
