Trinidad and To­ba­go Pre­mier Foot­ball League (TTPFL) run­ner-up Club San­do will con­tin­ue their Con­ca­caf Caribbean Cup ex­ploits with a semi­fi­nal meet against Ja­maica’s Mount Pleas­ant Foot­ball Acad­e­my, the reign­ing cham­pi­ons, next month.

Club San­do, which is coached by for­mer na­tion­al coach An­gus Eve, qual­i­fied as run­ner-up of Group A, will host the first leg on Oc­to­ber 14 at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um in Port-of-Spain from 8 pm be­fore they trav­el to Ja­maica to meet Mount Pleas­ant FA on Oc­to­ber 22, at Sabi­na Park, Kingston, Ja­maica, in a 7 pm kick­off.

Haiti’s Vi­o­lette AC, who topped Group A, will meet Group A run­ner-up, Port­more Unit­ed of Ja­maica, in the oth­er semi­fi­nals on Oc­to­ber 13 and 20.

Last week, Club San­do was edged out by Haiti’s Vi­o­lette AC 1-0 to fin­ish in the run­ner-up spot in Group A at the Es­ta­dio Cibao FC in San­ti­a­go de los Ca­balleros, Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic.

With this re­sult, Vi­o­lette AC record­ed its third clean sheet of the Group Stage in Group A, be­com­ing the first Hait­ian team in Caribbean Cup his­to­ry to win their group and al­so be­com­ing just the sec­ond team in tour­na­ment his­to­ry to win all four group stage match­es, join­ing last year’s cham­pi­on Mount Pleas­ant FA to end with a max­i­mum of 12 points.

With the loss, their first in four match­es, Club San­do FC end­ed with sev­en points two ahead of the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic’s Delfines de Este FC, while T&T De­fence Force, who end­ed third in the tour­na­ment last year, was fourth in the group three points.

Club San­do won their first two group match­es against Suri­name’s SV Bro­ki (2-1) and De­fence Force (2-2) be­fore a goal­less draw with Delfines del Este, all at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um, be­fore los­ing their fi­nal match to the Haitians.

Last year, the De­fence Force was stopped at the semi­fi­nal stage by Mount Pleas­ant af­ter a 5-1 loss at home and a 1-0 road win for a 5-2 ag­gre­gate re­sult be­fore they beat Cibao 4-2 on ag­gre­gate for third spot, 3-0, and 1-2.

On Thurs­day last, de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Mount Pleas­ant FA de­feat­ed Cav­a­lier FC 1-0 in an all-Ja­maica Group B clash at the Na­tion­al Sta­di­um in Kingston, Ja­maica.

With the re­sult, Mount Pleas­ant fin­ished the Group Stage in first place in Group B with sev­en points, while for­mer win­ners Cav­a­lier FC end­ed with two points.

Port­more Unit­ed earned a 2-1 win against Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic’s Cibao FC at Es­ta­dio Cibao in San­ti­a­go de los Ca­balleros, Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic, to clinch the run­ner-up spot.
