Samp Army Cocrico Cavaliers won the seventh edition of the Dream XI Trinidad T10 Blast on Sunday (June 22) when they defeated Bess Motors Blue Devils by five runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) Method at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, San Fernando.

The rain actually helped the Cavaliers in the second Eliminator when their match against Soca Kings was abandoned with the Cavaliers 57 for 3 in the fifth over.

Because the Cavaliers finished the standings higher than their opponents for the Eliminator, they were ushered into the final against the Blue Devils, who defeated them in the first Eliminator on Saturday (June 21).

The Cavaliers batted first and scored 107 for five from nine overs. Saiba Batoosingh, who contributed to their cause throughout the tournament, scored a ten-ball unbeaten 27 that consisted of two fours and two sixes. He was supported by Red Force opener Kjorn Ottley, who scored 25 from 13 balls with two fours and two sixes, and Olando James, who scored 20 from nine balls with two fours and one six. Kashtri Singh was the Blue Devils' best bowler with two for 19.

In reply, Blue Devils lost Kirstan Kallicharan for a duck with the second ball of the innings at one for one. In the next over, Crystian Thurton was gone for one.

Kamil Pooran was third gone at 23 for 3 at the end of the third over at 23 for three.

Skipper Adrian Ali and Teshawn Castro then went about repairing the innings and took them to 79 for three in seven overs and one ball when rain permanently put a stop to the proceedings.

Both Bess Motors Marchin Patriots batsmen found the boundaries with ease.

Castro was 40 from 20 balls with three fours and three sixes while Ali added 21 from 11 balls with two sixes.

But it wasn’t enough as they were five runs short and handed the Cavaliers the title.
