Kadeem Corbin scored the first hat trick of the new T&T Pre­mier Foot­ball League (TTPFL) Tier I Di­vi­sion sea­son in lead­ing AC Port-of-Spain (PoS)to a 4-1 win over host 1976 FC Phoenix at the Dwight Yorke Sta­di­um in Ba­co­let, To­ba­go on Fri­day.

Sedale Mc Lean got the oth­er goal for AC Port-of-Spain, last year's league run­ner-up to im­prove to a max­i­mum of six points af­ter two match­es, the same as Ter­minix La Hor­quet­ta Rangers while Mick­aeel Jem Gor­don, the Tier II "For­ward of the Year" and "Gold­en Boot" awards win­ner, fired in Phoenix' lone item as last year's Tier II cham­pi­on re­mained win­less af­ter two match­es.

At the Phase II recre­ation ground, in La Hor­quet­ta, Isa­iah Lee got a first-half brace and cap­tain Ty­rone Charles al­so found the back of the net in their 3-1 de­feat of Mor­vant Cale­do­nia Unit­ed.

Lee got his goals in the 19th and 34th min­utes with Charles fir­ing in his item in the 30th for a 3-0 lead at the in­ter­val while Tevin Scott reg­is­tered a 67th-minute con­so­la­tion strike for Mor­vant Cale­do­nia who al­so re­mained with­out a point af­ter two rounds of match­es.

In the first match at La Hor­quet­ta, Sher­von­hez Hamil­ton scored the lone item in the 30th minute to se­cure a 1-0 win for Tiger Tanks Club San­do, third-placed fin­ish­ers last sea­son, against Cen­tral FC.

To­day, (Sun­day, De­cem­ber 3), Tier I will con­tin­ue with two match­es with de­fend­ing cham­pi­on De­fence Force and Po­lice clash­ing at the Ken Cooke Ground, St James Po­lice Bar­racks in the ‘Bat­tle of Pro­tec­tive Ser­vices’ from 6 pm while Ea­gles FC and Prison FC face off at the Lar­ry Gomes Sta­di­um in Mal­abar, Ari­ma at 4 pm.

This year’s league com­pe­ti­tion fea­tures a $250,000 prize for the cham­pi­onship team in Tier I for the up­com­ing sea­son, while sec­ond place gets $160,000 and third, $90,000. In Tier II, the win­ner will take home $150,000, with the sec­ond and third earn­ing $90,000 and $60,000, re­spec­tive­ly.

PVDM, Po­lice win Tier II open­ers

Pe­tit Val­ley­Diego Mar­tin (PVDM) Unit­ed and Po­lice were both in win­ners row when the T&T Pre­mier Foot­ball League Tier II Di­vi­sion kicked off its sec­ond sea­son Sat­ur­day.

At St An­tho­ny’s Col­lege Ground, West­moor­ings, Pe­tit Val­ley/Diego Mar­tin crushed Mis­cel­la­neous Laven­tille Unit­ed 4-1 led by a dou­ble from Matthew Wal­dron, and one each from Josi­ah Al­leyne and Kiron Man­swell to can­cel out replies from El­lon Mc Comie and Kevin Mc Neil.

At St Mary’s Col­lege ground, Ser­pen­tine Road, Josi­ah Phillip scored a minute be­fore the half-time in­ter­val to earn T&T Po­lice a 1-0 tri­umph over neigh­bours Queen’s Park Crick­et Club.

The oth­er match be­tween Bethel Unit­ed and De­fence Force card­ed for Mont­gomery recre­ation ground, To­ba­go was post­poned. To­day, the Tier II Di­vi­sion will con­tin­ue with four match­es from 3.30 pm.
