ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) proudly honoured the region’s most outstanding cricketing talent at the eighth annual CWI/WIPA Awards Gala at the elegant Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lord’s Castle on Sunday.

The glittering evening brought together past legends, current stars, and key stakeholders in a powerful celebration of West Indies cricket — recognizing outstanding male and female cricketers who have displayed consistency across international and regional formats during the 2024 season, while also paying tribute to the 50th anniversary of West Indies’ historic 1975 ICC Cricket World Cup triumph — a landmark achievement that continues to inspire generations of fans and cricketers across the Caribbean and the world. In a night filled with pride, passion, and purpose, players, legends, administrators, fans, and dignitaries came together to honour the past and celebrate the present.

Chris Dehring, CWI chief executive officer (CEO), in his welcome remarks, applauded the exceptional performances of those nominated.

He said, “You’ve weathered the pressure, risen to the occasion, and made your nations and your region proud. On behalf of all of us at Cricket West Indies and the West Indies Players Association, congratulations.”

Wayne Lewis, secretary of WIPA and co-chair of the CWI/WIPA Awards Committee, delivered remarks on behalf of WIPA President Wavell Hinds, emphasizing the spirit behind the celebration.

“This evening is about more than awards. It’s about recognising the determination, resilience, and sacrifice that every player brings to this sport,” said Lewis. “That’s why moments like these—where we pause to honour the hard work and talent across the region—are so meaningful. There is a place for every passionate, committed individual in this game, and events like this remind us of the value each person brings to our cricketing community.”

Ten award categories were featured this year, each with a strong list of deserving nominees.
