Kendis Matthias was the star of the show as the D’ Drinks Spot outplayed Universal Flippers to capture the $3,000 title in the Harvard Sports Club April Fest Windball Cricket Tournament at the Harvard Sports Club, 106 Tragarete Road, Port-of-Spain, on Saturday night.
Batting first in the tournament, which was contested via ten overs per side, the Universal Flippers were put on the defensive early and were limited to a meagre 15 runs all out in 6.2 overs of the allotted ten overs, with Sashtri Ramoutar scoring three runs and Dwayne James and Ruben Adams two each, while Matthias was the main wicket taker with three for two runs from his one over, with Joshua Millien grabbing two wickets for four runs and Virinda Boodram one for one run.
D’ Drinks Spot then made light work of their run chase and raced to 17 runs for the loss of one wicket in 3.2 overs, led by Nashawn Latchman with eight runs not out and Zephon Richards with five to secure the title.
