D Drinks Spot ousts champ Not Jus Fun in Harvard windball quarters

A new cham­pi­on will be crowned when the cur­tain comes down on the Har­vard Sports Club April Fest Wind­ball (8 overs) Crick­et Tour­na­ment af­ter de­fend­ing cham­pi­on Not Jus Fun was beat­en in its quar­ter­fi­nal match by D Drinks Spot at the Har­vard Sports Club, 106 Tra­garete Road, Port-of-Spain, on Fri­day night.

Bat­ting first, D Drinks Spot post­ed a chal­leng­ing 33 for the loss of nine wick­ets in eight overs at the crease with James Sook­nar­ine hit­ting a top score of ten while Nashawn Lutch­man chipped in with five, and Joshua Mil­lien three.

For Not Jus Fun, Dion Ram­paul was the pick of the bowlers with two wick­ets for one run from his two overs, and Mar­cus Chan­dool and An­tho­ny George claimed one each for two and eight runs, re­spec­tive­ly.

How­ev­er, in re­ply, the short-hand­ed Not Jus Fun was re­strict­ed to 25 runs all out in six overs with Tyrell Mollineau and Ste­fon Bis­soon the main con­trib­u­tors with six and four runs, re­spec­tive­ly while Virin­da Boodram led the tight bowl­ing for D Drinks Spot with two wick­ets for on­ly on run con­ced­ed from his two overs while Lutch­man and 'Play­er of the Match' Sook­nar­ine took one wick­et each as they won by eight runs.

In to­mor­row's semi­fi­nal, D Drinks Spot will meet D Crush­ers won swept past Friends 4 Life by 12 runs in Fri­day's sec­ond quar­ter­fi­nal.

D Crush­ers took first turn at the crease and tal­lied 38 for the loss of nine wick­ets led by Vin­od Mack's ten runs, Sahin­dra Ramdeo with eighth, and Adesh Ram­sumair, four be­fore they bowled out Friends 4 Life for 26 runs in­spired by the 'Play­er of the match' Dil­lon Sankar's three wick­ets for one run.

The sec­ond semi­fi­nal on Fri­day will see Trav­ellers up against Uni­ver­sal Flip­pers for a place in Sat­ur­day's fi­nal.

In last Sat­ur­day's quar­ter­fi­nals, Trav­ellers amassed 29 for the loss of nine wick­ets in eight overs and then held their nerve to keep Hit List to 27 for the loss of sev­en wick­ets in eight overs to win by two runs thanks to 'Play­er of the match', Davaughn Gib­son two wick­ets for three runs.

In the fi­nal quar­ter­fi­nal, Uni­ver­sal Flip­pers made 35 all out in eight overs with the trio of Kevon Ramd­hanie, Dex­ter Ramd­hanie and Mario Jack all scor­ing a team-high four runs each while Sunil Khan (2/4), Vishal Per­sad (2/3) and Adri­an Joseph (1/3) were the main wick­et tak­ers for Ban From D' Park.

How­ev­er, in their run chase, Ban From D'Park fell short at 26 for the loss of nine wick­ets in eight overs.
