Kale Dal­la Cos­ta played his last game of the J30 McK­in­ney tour­na­ment in the Unit­ed States on Thurs­day in a los­ing dou­bles ef­fort with Dy­lan Meineke of the Unit­ed States.

The pair went up against the US duo of Joseph Kim and Aryan Ponu­goti in the qual­i­fy­ing round of the main draw, but they were beat­en in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. It was Dal­la Cos­ta’s sec­ond de­feat of the tour­na­ment af­ter he lost out in the boys’ sin­gles to top seed Se­bas­t­ian Zavala, al­so of the Unit­ed States, 6-0, 6-0.

De­spite the Zavala re­sult on Mon­day, Dal­la Cos­ta re­cov­ered and gave a good ac­count of him­self to fin­ish sec­ond in sin­gles qual­i­fy­ing cour­tesy of vic­to­ries over US-based Agastya Singh on Tues­day and a walkover win against Finnegan Keenan on Wednes­day.

The tal­ent­ed Trinida­di­an first held off Singh 7-5 for a first-set ad­van­tage and lat­er made sure with a 6-4 tri­umph in the sec­ond set.

He al­so de­feat­ed Keenan 6-4 in the open­ing set and was well in the lead 3-0 when Keenan re­tired hurt. De­spite his tri­umphs, Dal­la Cos­ta failed to ad­vance to the main draw in the sin­gles, as on­ly the win­ner ad­vanced.

On­ly last week, Dal­la Cos­ta clinched both the boys’ un­der-18 sin­gles and dou­bles ti­tles at the J60 ITF (In­ter­na­tion­al Ten­nis Fed­er­a­tion) Ju­nior Tour­na­ment at the Na­tion­al Rac­quet Cen­tre in Tacarigua.
