Match­day four of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Darts As­so­ci­a­tion (TT­DA) Na­tion­al Mick­ey Mouse League of Darts de­liv­ered an­oth­er night of twists, sur­pris­es, and thrilling fin­ish­es as ac­tion un­fold­ed on Tues­day (Sep­tem­ber 15) at the Kos­mos Club in Port-of-Spain.

High-fly­ing Jus For Fun (JFF) Vikings suf­fered their first de­feat of the sea­son af­ter strug­gling De Orig­i­nal Game Shot (DOGS) pro­duced a stun­ning 6-4 vic­to­ry in an­oth­er fiery con­test be­tween the two sides. DOGS came out fir­ing and quick­ly stunned the Vikings by rac­ing in­to a 3-1 lead. Their ad­van­tage was then ex­tend­ed to four when DOGS cap­tain Ged­des Fon­cette se­cured vic­to­ry in his sin­gles match.

With their backs against the wall, the Vikings be­gan their fight­back. Cap­tain Michael Ri­vas kept their hopes alive with a thrilling 2-1 vic­to­ry over Joshua Bal­four, but DOGS re­fused to sur­ren­der their ad­van­tage and held on for a mem­o­rable 6-4 vic­to­ry. The re­sult hand­ed DOGS their first win of the sea­son, while the Vikings re­main at the top of the stand­ings de­spite suf­fer­ing their first de­feat. DOGS cur­rent­ly sit in fifth place.

E-Z Lines main­tain pres­sure

E-Z Lines re­main in sec­ond place af­ter de­feat­ing fourth-place Flight­ed Friends 6-4. E-Z Lines showed their strength dur­ing the sin­gles round, with Paul Joseph, James Walk­lin and Karen Ram­cha­ran all se­cur­ing vic­to­ries to help their team claim the vi­tal win. Mean­while, Game Shot con­tin­ued their search for a first vic­to­ry of the cam­paign af­ter bat­tling third-place Drifters to a 5-5 draw.

Scor­pi­ons hold firm against Pi­rates

Scor­pi­ons main­tained their po­si­tion at the top af­ter be­ing held to a 5-5 draw by West­er­ly Pi­rates in an­oth­er high­ly en­ter­tain­ing en­counter. The sin­gles round pro­vid­ed one of the biggest high­lights of the night when Justin Ed­wards of the Pi­rates pro­duced a bril­liant per­for­mance against Scor­pi­ons cap­tain Sher­az Ra­sool, record­ing an im­pres­sive 400-point leg. The Pi­rates then found them­selves just one game away from pulling off a ma­jor up­set, tak­ing a 5-4 lead in­to the team event.

With vic­to­ry with­in touch­ing dis­tance, the Pi­rates looked set to claim the scalp of the league lead­ers. How­ev­er, the Scor­pi­ons showed their cham­pi­onship cre­den­tials when it mat­tered most, win­ning the fi­nal game to share the spoils 5-5.

Snipers fire their way up the ta­ble

Just For Fun Snipers were al­so big win­ners on the night, climb­ing to sec­ond place af­ter pro­duc­ing a dom­i­nant 7-3 vic­to­ry over new­ly pro­mot­ed Reck­less. Else­where, Triple Vi­sion fi­nal­ly opened their ac­count for the sea­son, adding to the woes of Shang­hai Bulls with a 6-4 vic­to­ry.

Bul­lz I re­main top in C Di­vi­sion

In the C Di­vi­sion, Bul­lz I re­main at the top of the stand­ings on 29 points af­ter be­ing held to a 5-5 draw by third-place Sea Wolves. QPCC Howz-Dart al­so cel­e­brat­ed their first vic­to­ry of the sea­son, de­feat­ing fifth-place Top Shot 5-4 to move in­to sec­ond place. Bull­dogs al­so se­cured a hard-fought 6-4 vic­to­ry over bot­tom-of-the-ta­ble Ran­dom Squad as the bat­tle for po­si­tion con­tin­ues.

Match-day five next

With match-day four now in the books, at­ten­tion turns to to­day (Sep­tem­ber 22), when the Na­tion­al Mick­ey Mouse League re­turns to the Kos­mos Club for match-day five. While the league bat­tle con­tin­ues, an­oth­er ma­jor TT­DA com­pe­ti­tion is al­ready loom­ing on the hori­zon. The TT­DA Na­tion­al Zon­al League is set to bring to­geth­er teams rep­re­sent­ing the North-West, South-Cen­tral and East zones for three Sun­days of com­pe­ti­tion.

The ac­tion gets un­der­way on Sep­tem­ber 27 at Kos­mos Club, be­fore mov­ing to Em­pire Bil­liards & Bar on Oc­to­ber 11, and con­clud­ing at Hutt Shutts on Oc­to­ber 25. With the North-West Zone look­ing to de­fend its ti­tle, South-Cen­tral and East will be de­ter­mined to de­throne the de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons and claim Zon­al League su­prema­cy.

Three zones. Three Sun­days. One cham­pi­on. The stage is set for an­oth­er ma­jor chap­ter in T&T darts.
