Tennis queen Jordane Dookie cruised into the quarterfinals of the J4 Kingston Jamaica Tennis Tournament by defeating hometown favourite Thandie Sampson in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 on Monday.
The win comes a week after she was dumped out of the J5 Kingston singles as well as out of the doubles that followed. Dookie will now face number two seed Athena Rosas of the USA tomorrow as today is an off day.
Dookie will also team-up with Meghna Arun Kumar of the USA to contest the doubles tomorrow as well. The pair will come up against the team of Alyssa James from Jamaica and Kayla Brianne Moore of the USA.
Yesterday Dookie told Guardian Media she intends to stay consistent and execute on her strengths against Rosas.
In the opening game against Sampson, the local tennis queen said she had to overcome some nerves before gaining the win. “I didn’t know what to expect against Sampson so I was nervous at the beginning, but I eventually got over it and won.
“Coming up against Rosas it will be different because I have already settled into the tournament. To besides, I saw her play so I just want to be consistent and execute,” Dookie explained.
