Rox­bor­ough Sec­ondary School (RSS) pair of Na­talia East­man and Rashee­da Cave were crowned joint girls' cham­pi­ons of the just-con­clud­ed To­ba­go Re­gion­al Sec­ondary Schools Track and Field Cham­pi­onships, held at the Dwight Yorke Sta­di­um in Ba­co­let, To­ba­go.

How­ev­er, lit­tle Nkosi Toney stood as the out­right win­ner among the boys, with a to­tal of 30 points for Sig­nal Hill Sec­ondary School (SHSS). Af­ter two days of com­pe­ti­tion, Toney was un­beat­en, claim­ing the win in the boys' 5,000 me­tres Open Run in a time of 18 min­utes and 22.66 sec­onds. He fin­ished ahead of school­mate Mykhal Paria (19:42.09) and third Abubakr Gopichan of Scar­bor­ough Sec­ondary (20:53.18).

Toney al­so se­cured the wins in the boys' 1,500m run, stop­ping the clock in 4:33.80; the 800m fi­nal, where he got the bet­ter of Scar­bor­ough Sec­ondary School's (SSS) Ben Is­rael Ban­nis­ter in two min­utes, 03.69 sec­onds and third-place Ha­keem Kerr of SHSS (2:06.70).

Toney was fol­lowed in­to sec­ond po­si­tion over­all by Teshun Kerr of Bish­ops High School To­ba­go (BHST) with 28 points, while Daniel Brig­gs of SSS took the third-place prize over­all with 25 points.

Kerr clinched the win in the boys' U-17 100m dash by post­ing a time of 11.41 sec­onds, cross­ing the fin­ish line be­fore Dan­ion Williams of SHS with 11.50 and third Keelon Stew­art of Rox­bor­ough Sec­ondary School (RSS) with 11.65.

Mean­while, in the girls' dom­i­nance, East­man was a run­away win­ner in the 800m sprint, get­ting to the fin­ish line ahead of An­gel David­son of SHSS (2:47.59), in a time of 2:33.68, while Ter­rysha Har­ry (SHS) sealed the third-place bronze medal in 3:04.36.

East­man al­so claimed vic­to­ry in the javelin throw by re­leas­ing the spear, a dis­tance of 21.80m. Her throw was well ahead of the even­tu­al sec­ond-place fin­ish­er Lo­ry Clarke (17.59m) of RSS and third Adaya Woods (16.70m) of SHSS.

Mean­while, Cave was equal­ly im­pres­sive for her joint top po­si­tion. She dis­posed of the field in the girls' 1,500m run, cross­ing the line in a time of five min­utes, 28.97 sec­onds for the gold medal. Ar­lette Ol­li­v­ere of SHS re­ceived the sil­ver medal in 6:06.75 and Ny­la Find­ley of Spey­side High (SHS) the bronze medal in 6:29.18.

Lat­er, Cave al­so dom­i­nat­ed the 800m sprint in 2:28.83, com­ing home ahead of the Sig­nal Hill pair of Ol­li­v­ere (2:45.12), tak­ing the sil­ver and Sha­nia Smith in 2:50.53.

Scar­bor­ough Sec­ondary emerged as the top school with a com­bined score of 629, fol­lowed by Sig­nal Hill in sec­ond place with 601 and Rox­bor­ough in third place with 586. Fill­ing the re­spec­tive re­main­ing spots were Bish­op's High (582), Spey­side (365.50), Ma­son Hall (259.50), Good­wood Sec­ondary School (GSS) with 251 and Pen­te­costal Light & Life Foun­da­tion (134).
