Kimberli Rivas of Just For Fun Snipers warming up vs E-Z Lines on match-day five.

League leaders stunned and left silent. Round one of the National Mixed League of Darts 2025 has been completed with two more full rounds of matches to go. The A Division remains tight with the top three teams all tied on 33 points.

Just For Fun (JFF) Vikings were cruising at the top from match-day one until their match-day five encounter with defending champions E-Z Lines. This huge clash at No 36 New Street in Port-of-Spain was a tightly-contested affair from the start with both teams tied at 2-2 after the first block of games. Then came the exciting singles round where top stars like James Walklin and Karen Ramcharan of E-Z Lines helped steer the match in their team’s favour.

Michael Rivas, captain of the Vikings, won a very important match against opposing captain Adam da Costa, which saw his team have hopes of a draw going into the final team game. E-Z Lines did just enough to win the match 6-4, seeing them move up to second and Just For Fun dropping to third.

De Original Game Shot (DOGS) now sit in first place after a resounding 8-2 victory over newly promoted Bullz I. DOGS were able to overcome an early scare when Bullz I had the score at 1-1. The top players of DOGS stepped up knowing a huge victory would be good for their title hopes, ensuring an emphatic victory which now sees them in pole position with a lot more darts to play, especially with their big clash coming up on match-day six versus defending champions and fierce rivals E-Z Lines.

In the B Division, Scorpions lead the pack with a ten-point gap over second place after a tightly contested match versus Triple Vision. Triple Vision started off very well, racing to a 2-0 lead; however, Scorpions quickly responded, making the score 2-2 going into the all-important singles round.

Scorpions drew first blood, eventually winning the first two of five singles thanks to the experienced duo of Petrica Massiah and Hector Alzola, giving their team a 4-2 lead. Triple Vision was able to register two successive wins through the tenacious efforts of Mikhael Achong and Jonathan Gill, scores once again tied, this time 4-4. Nicole Mora of Scorpions won the final singles, giving her team a 5-4 lead. The Scorpions needed to win the final team game to clinch victory and keep a perfect win record intact. But the theme of the evening was tenacity, and Triple Vision held on for a vital 5-5 result.

Triple Vision sits in fourth place. Just For Fun Snipers are in second place after an impressive 8-2 victory over Reckless Darts Team. The Snipers dominated proceedings from the off, leading 3-1 and 6-2 during the course of the match. Captain Adrian Millette confirmed victory in his singles encounter, making it 7-2, and they were able to end the contest emphatically in the team game. Sea Wolves are up to third place after defeating bottom-of-the-table Shanghai Bulls 7-3.

Flighted Friends continue to dominate the C Division with five wins from five, with an impressive 40 points and a ten-point lead over second place. Flighted Friends took on Bulldogs on match-day five. They were in dominant form, led by the experienced Nanette Brooks. Flighted Friends were up 3-1, and after losing the opening singles round, they were able to make a clean sweep of the remaining games, winning 8-2.

Random Squad are chasing in second place after a hard-fought 6-4 victory over third-place Top Shot. Random Squad were up 3-1, then 5-1, but Top Shot did put up a fight in the singles rounds, causing a bit of a scare but it was not enough to prevent defeat. With this new structure and format, only one team gets promoted and one team gets demoted. Match-day six was carded for Tuesday.
