T&T striker Levi Garcia will be in a fitness race to be fit for this country's remaining two Concacaf Nations League B Group C fixtures away to the Bahamas on March 24, and three days later at home to Nicaragua at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet on March 27.
This after the 25-year-old Garcia was confirmed as suffering a fracture as revealed via an MRI scan which will see him sidelined for 2-3 weeks and misses out on his club's Novibet Greece Cup semifinal second-leg match against rivals Olympiacos today (Wednesday, March 1) in which they lead 3-0 after his brace in the first leg.
Garcia will also sit out his club's two remaining regular season Stoiximan Greece Super League matches against OFI Crete on March 5, and another meeting with Olympiacos on March 12, but should be back in time for the playoffs.
On Saturday, Garcia, who is locked in a three-way battle with Democratic Republic of Congos' Cedric Bakambu of Olympiacos, and Panetolikos' Nikolaos Karelis all on 11 goals at the top of the scorers' charts made his 100th appearance for AEK Athens FC during a 2-0 victory against Asteras Tripolis FC on Saturday last.
However, Garcia's had a bittersweet day as he was forced off at the half-time interval with the injury and replaced by Steven Zuber.
AEK Athens currently sits second on the Greece Super League table with 53 points from 23 matches, two points behind leaders Panathinaikos who have played a match more while defending champion Olympiacos is third with 50 points, two more than PAOK while Aris is a distant fifth with 37.
At present, the Angus Eve-coached Soca Warriors sit in the second spot in the four-team League B Group A standings with nine points from four matches, one behind Nicaragua while the Bahamas is third with three points, and St Vincent and the Grenadines bottom of the table with one point.
This was after T&T went under to Nicaragua 2-1 in their CNL opener before winning their next three matches, 1-0 against Bahamas, and 2-0 and 4-1 over St Vincent and the Grenadines.
In preparation for the Concacaf Nations League encounters, the T&T senior men's team will face Jamaica in two away international friendlies on March 11, and 14.
The first match takes place at the Montego Bay Sports Complex in Catherine Hall and the second will be played at the National Stadium in Kingston. Both matches will fall outside of the FIFA International window, meaning both teams are expected to be dominated by locally based-players. T&T last hosted Jamaica in 2017 and went under by a 2-1 margin.
