T&T international Levi Garcia scored a brace in Russia's oldest derby to earn FC Spartak Moscow a 2-2 draw away to Dynamo Moscow in the Russian Premier League Round Eight encounter at the VTB Arena, Moscow, on Saturday.
The 27-year-old, who had a hat-trick of goals ruled out for offside in his country's 2-0 loss to Jamaica in the Concacaf FIFA World Cup Final Qualifiers last Tuesday in Kingston, Jamaica, opened the scoring in the 19th minute for Spartak Moscow, with his first goal of the campaign.
However, Dynamo Moscow drew level seven minutes later through Bitello and three minutes into time-added on, the latter got his second of the match to give the host a 2-1 lead at the half-time interval.
On the resumption, the visiting Spartak Moscow made two changes in an effort to get back into the contest and in the 53rd minute, Garcia scored his second in the 63rd minute to get his team back on even terms at 2-2, after which both teams failed to find the winner.
With the drawn result, Spartak Moscow and Dinamo Moscow stayed eighth and ninth on the 16-club standing with 12 and nine points, respectively.
At the top is Krasnodar with 19 points, three ahead of Baltika and Lokomotiv Moscow while CSKA is fourth with 15, followed by Rubin with 14, Zenit with 13 and Krylya with 12. Next up for Garcia and Spartak Moscow is a clash with Rostov in the Russian Cup on Thursday.
Yeates nets in York's 2-2 CPL draw
National midfielder Steffen Yeates was on target for York United in their 2-2 draw with Atletico Ottawa in the Canadian Premier League at York Lions Stadium on Sunday.
Samuel Salter fired Atletico Ottawa ahead as early as the eighth minute but two minutes later, Yeates, who featured for T&T in their recent Concacaf Final Round World Cup qualifiers against Curacao and Jamaica, then worked a one-two with Max Ferrari, before he slid the ball past the goalkeeper to equalise for York United.
Four minutes into the second half, Salter restored Atletico's lead at 2-1 from a Manny Aparicio assist, only for Adonijah Reid to set up Frank Sturing for York's equaliser in the 54th.
The result left York fourth on the eight-club standings with 33 points from 23 matches, one more than HFX Wanderers, the club of T&T duo Andre Rampersad and Ryan Telfer, who went under to third-placed Cavalry (36 points), 3-1.
Forge leads the table with 49 points, two more than Atletico Ottawa.
Williams leads Isidro to come-from-behind win
Out of favour national midfielder Jomal Williams scored the equaliser to lead AD Isidro Metapan to a come-from-behind 3-1 whipping of CD Hercules in the El Salvador Apertura Primera Division Round II on the weekend.
Bryan Tamacas scored for CD Hercules in the third minute but within six minutes, the 31-year-old Williams earned and converted a penalty to start AD Isidro Metapán's comeback.
Melvin Cartagena then put Isidro Metapan ahead for the first time in the match in the 57th minute before Elvin Alvarado added a third item in the 90th minute for their fifth win in 11 matches this season for 18 points and fifth on the 12-club table.
LA Firpo leads with 26 points from 11 matches, five points more than FAS and Alianza while CD Cacahuatique is fourth with 18, the same as Isidro, but ahead on goal difference.
