Eric Griffith and Brian Paul emerged as the winners of the 13th annual Rotary Club of St Augustine Golf for Life Tournament held on Saturday at Millennium Lakes Golf & Country Club in Trincity. The tournament was held to raise funds to fuel the Rotary Club of St Augustine’s ongoing charitable initiatives.
Griffith and Paul representing Precision Cataract, won with a tally of 44 stableford points. In second place was the Container Central team of Randy Dhalloo and Khansham Kanhai with 42 points (on a count back). Third place went to the team of Shane Ram and Mano Ragbir also with 42 points. The other prize winners were the teams of Wayne Baptiste and Haroon Ramkissoon in fourth position, also with 42 points, Ken Pollard and Ernest De Gannes in fifth with 41 points and sixth was Richard Lara and Brian Fares also scoring 41 points.
The champions won an accommodation package for seven nights at Simpson Bay Resort and Marina, St Maarten courtesy of Chanka Seeterram and Co. together with a $1,000 travel voucher courtesy of the Rotary Club of St Augustine.
Unfortunately, no one was able to win the prize of a fully electric 3 door Mini Cooper vehicle for a hole-in-one on the 11th hole sponsored by Lafast Motors.
At the prize-giving ceremony, president of the Rotary Club of St Augustine, Vishnu Balroop, congratulated the winners and thanked all the major sponsors, the participants and volunteers as well as the chairman of the golf tournament committee, Amerjeet Kocher, the committee members and the Tournament Coordinator, Richard Lara for staging another successful event.
