ST JOHN’S – Former West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman Jahmar Hamilton lashed a quickfire half-century as Anguilla defeated Antigua & Barbuda by 11 runs in a thrilling encounter in the Leeward Islands T20 Cricket Festival (LIT20) in Antigua on Tuesday.
Hamilton hit 52 from 28 balls with six fours and four sixes, to help Anguilla post a competitive 157 for four from their 20 overs at the Sir Vivan Richards Cricket Stadium.
Deon Burton scored an unbeaten 30 not out from 29 balls, while Jaidel Richardson finished on 27 not out from 17 balls.
Hayden Walsh Jr took 2-29 from his four overs for Antigua & Barbuda.
However, despite a spirited effort from the home side, they were eventually dismissed for 146 with three balls remaining.
Michael Haynes-Dover topscored with a fighting 38 off 33 balls, while Karima Gore scored an aggressive 27 off just 17 balls.
Richardson also starred with the ball for Anguilla taking 3-36, with Andros Bowens snagging 3-25 and Shivnarine Benjamin 3-15.
