VADODARA, India – West Indies all-rounder Chinelle Henry grabbed two key wickets as her Delhi Capitals Women defeated UP Warriorz Women by five wickets to advance to the Eliminator in the Women’s Premier League in India on Sunday.
Henry bowled opener and captain Meg Lamming for a duck with the first ball of the match and returned to dismiss Simran Shaikh at a crucial stage, and was one of the main reasons why the Warriorz only mustered 122 for eight in their 20 overs at the Kotambi Stadium.
Deepti Sharma topscored for the Warriorz with 24, Shikha Pandey made an unbeaten 23, while Shaikh added 22.
Deandra Dottin made five off nine balls before being trapped lbw by Marizanne Kapp.
Player-of-the-Match Kapp finished with 3-30, Shree Charani claimed 2-22 and Henry 2-25.
The Capitals were coasting to victory at 97 for two in the 15th over, but lost three wickets – including that of Henry for one – to slump to 101 for five.
However, captain Jemimah Rodrigues anchored the innings with an unbeaten 34 off 18 balls to see her side to victory.
