Former national women’s volleyballer Sinead Jack-Kisal was one of two players in double-figure scoring to help Eczacıbaşı Dynavit to a straight sets Game Four win over reigning champions Fenerbache Open to force a fifth and deciding game in the Vodafone Turkish Women’s Sultanlar Ligi Volleyball finals, Thursday.
Needing to win to extend the series, Eczacıbaşı Dynavit got a match-high 25 points from Serbian captain Tijana Boskovic while Jack-Kisal added 11 and Hande Baladin eight to lead their team to a 25-21, 25-21, 25-21 victory at the Burhan Felek Vestel Voleybol Salonu in İstanbul to set up a fifth and deciding contest on Sunday.
On Monday, it was a reversal of scores as Eczacıbaşı Dynavit suffered a straight sets loss 18-25, 19-25, 22-25 to fall behind 2-1 in the best-of-five finals series.
Cuban-born Turkish international Melissa Vargas led the way for Fenerbache Opet with 20 points and Eda Erdan with 19 as they moved to within one win of retaining their title.
For Eczacıbaşı Dynavit, who records 16 times winners of the title, Boskovic was the lone player in double-figure scoring with 17 points while Baladin got eight, Alexa Gray five, and the trio of Jovana Stevanovic, Irina Voronkova, and Jack-Kisal, now a Turkish citizen, four points each in the loss.
In the opening match of the series, Fenerbache Opet won 25-22, 25-27, 25-23, 27-25 but then won Eczacıbaşı Dynavit 21-25, 25-22, 14-25, 25-14, 15-9 in the second match to tie up the series at 1-1.
In the semifinals, Eczacıbaşı Dynavit beat Vakifbank 2-0 via a first-leg 25-11, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15 result, and 25-23, 25-20, 25-20 in the second-leg and in the other semifinal Fenerbache Opet defeated Turk Hava Yollari 25-23, 17-25, 25-23, 25-14 and 25-18, 25-20, 25-16.
