The Ron La Forest Soccer Coaching School will close off operations for the year on Saturday with a day of fun and presentation at the Nelson Mandela Park, St Clair from 9 am.
The coaching school considered an institution due to its longevity and service to the nation through football development, will join with another coaching school from the central area on Saturday to give the young footballers their last taste of the action.
The La Forest Coaching School comprises three categories – 5-7 years; 8-12 years and 12 and over. Chief coach Ron La Forest, a former national standout, will join his other staff coaches Ricardo Jacob, Amiel Tenia, and others who are known only as Fabregas and Hospedales, will be on hand for the final sessions.
La Forest said it would be a day of fun to see the young players display what they have learned at his school.
"There are usually some past players who would pass through to enjoy the action with the present players. After that we will determine who the best striker/forward, the best defender, the best midfielder, the most outstanding player, and the most valuable player in each category will be and present them with trophies and certificates, as well as other gifts," La Forest said.
The school has provided solid players technically and tactically, for some of the top prestige schools such as Queen's Royal College, Fatima College, St Anthony's College, and St Mary's College, to name a few.
The school has been in existence since 1997, helping young individuals with their school, football skills, careers, and overall development as people for their communities and the wider society.
