Daniella Lee Son out ran her schoolmates to win the Second annual St. Joseph's Convent of San Fernando 5K Road Race last Saturday on a drizzly afternoon in Palmiste Park with the start and finish at the Block 7 Playground.
There were 487 entries including students from invited schools. Lee Son of St. Joseph's Convent emerged as the girls' champion in a time of 26 minutes 55 seconds. Her schoolmate Dana Huggins stopped the clock in 28:10 for second while woman campaigner Caroline Creteau finished third in 28 minutes and 11 seconds.
Ariel Bhagan, who recorded 29 minutes and 42 second of St. Joseph's Convent was the third student overall to cross the finish-line.
Kyle Young Lao of A.S.J.A. Boys' clocked 18 minutes and 28 second to cop the Boys title from Kris Deonanan (19:45), a parent of a St Joseph's Convent student, while Cy Sargeant (20:08) finished third.
Presentation College of San Fernando star footballer Jordan Riley was the second student to cross the finish-line in 21 minutes and 25 seconds while Naparima's Shadeon Arthur finished third in 21:41.
The event was organized by School's parents and the theme was the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goal #3 - Good Health and Well Being. Among the sponsors were Raw Fitness H/C, Jusamco, Damus, JTA, Laing Sandblasting, Bermudez, Caribbean Bottlers, Canton Palace, Red Paradise, Pronto Print, and National Canners.
