LONDON – Jamaica international Jamal Lowe scored his sixth goal of the Championship season but Swansea City conceded deep in stoppage time at the end, to draw 2-2 with Birmingham City.
The 29-year-old six-footer netted in the 58th minute to give the visitors the lead on Saturday after the game was deadlocked 1-1 at the break at St Andrew’s.
However Jordan James, a 65th minute substitute, scrambled a point for the hosts in the fifth minute of injury time, injecting hope into their frantic battle to avoid the relegation zone following a dreadful run of form.
Swansea led on 36 minutes through Harry Darling’s header but saw the lead cancelled out just two minutes later through Siriki Dembele’s clinical finish.
Lowe, who joined Swansea on loan from Bournemouth last September, then put the Swans in front again when he found the target courtesy of Josh Tymon’s cross, before James dashed their hopes of full points.
Swansea are now 15th in the league while Birmingham remain 20th.
In League One, Reggae Boy recruit Devante Cole bagged his 15th goal of the campaign while Shaq Forde netted his sixth, as their respective clubs registered victories.
Cole, the son of Manchester United and England legend Andy Cole, laid the foundation for Barnsley’s 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers with a 43rd minute strike at Oakwell.
The 28-year-old’s alertness proved critical after putting his header against the post following John McAtee’s cross, but then stabbing in the rebound with the ’keeper beaten.
Chris Martin equalised with a far corner header in the 68th before Corey O’Keefe produced a close range finish from an Adanm Phillips cross, to give Barnsley the points.
At Fratton Park, Leyton Orient inflicted a surprise 3-0 drubbing on leaders Portsmouth, with Forde getting on the scoresheet in the 30th minute.
The 19-year-old, the son of former Barbados international Fabian Forde, put the visitors ahead following a clever build-up before Jordan Brown doubled the lead after the Pompey defence failed to clear a loose ball.
And Leyton were up 3-0 at the break after Dan Agyei headed in a corner in stoppage time.
