T&T's Jameela Mc­Carthy's de­but sea­son with the Sara­cens Mav­er­icks in the Vi­tal­i­ty Net­ball Su­per­league (VSNL) was cut short due med­ical rea­sons. This ac­cord­ing to a re­lease from the club via its var­i­ous so­cial me­dia plat­forms on Fri­day.

It said: "Sara­cens Mav­er­icks can to­day (Fri­day) con­firm that Jameela Mc­Carthy has been un­able to fin­ish this sea­son with Sara­cens Mav­er­icks due to med­ical grounds.

"Jameela was a high­ly val­ued mem­ber of the squad and we of course wish her all the best in the fu­ture."

Head Coach Kat Rat­na­pala spoke on the de­fend­er's de­par­ture in the re­lease say­ing: "Peo­ple will al­ways come first at our club and we would ask that every­one re­spects Jameela’s de­ci­sion. She will be sore­ly missed in this 2022 cam­paign and we wish her a very speedy re­cov­ery."

Mc­Carthy missed the Mav­er­icks' match on the week­end against Sev­ern Stars, which they won 62-54 at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Worch­ester Are­na.

The Mav­er­icks have done well thus far this sea­son, play­ing un­beat­en af­ter four rounds of match­es. Mc­Carthy played in the open­ing three match­es ver­sus Lon­don Pulse (53-51), Wasps (58-49) and Celtic Drag­ons (61-54) which fea­tures T&T's Shaquan­da Greene-Noel.

Round five con­tin­ues this week­end with Mav­er­icks will be back in ac­tion to­day host­ing Man­ches­ter Thun­der at the Hert­ford­shire Sports Vil­lage. Ear­li­er, Greene-Noel's Wales-based Drag­ons will seek­ing its first win of the sea­son when they meet Pulse at Cop­per Box Are­na in Lon­don.
