Barbadian batsman Shane Moseley continued to impress in the West Indies first warm-up match of their tour of England, striking 83 not out to follow his 40 in the first innings batting for the Jason Holder XI against Kraigg Brathwaite's XI at Old Trafford in Manchester on Thursday.
The game ended in a draw but it was a worthwhile run out for the West Indies players ahead of their three-Test series against England, starting on July 8 at the Ages Bowl in Southampton.
Batting a second time Brathwaite's XI declared their second innings at 231/4 giving Holder's team a victory target of 314 runs, finished on 149/3 with Moseley leading the way. The right-hander batted for 194 minutes, facing 142 balls and hitting nine fours and a six.
Earlier Shamarh Brooks also looked good in scoring an unbeaten 66 for Brathwaite's team as they declared on 231/4. He faced 99 balls, hitting 12 fours.
Wicketkeeper/batsman Shane Dowrich struck a quick half-century as well. He made 56 not out off 83 balls with seven fours and a six. Alzari Joseph, who coach Phil Simmons said will be a handful for England this summer, snared 2/17 when Brathwaite's team batted to end the encounter with 6/77, following his 4/60 in the first essay.
The West Indies will continue their preparations on the weekend when they play a four-day game against themselves in preparation for the first Test.
