Muradali spurs Hillview over Naps

Hillview Col­lege de­feat­ed Na­pari­ma Col­lege by three runs in their top of the ta­ble clash at Lewis Street in San Fer­nan­do, as match­es in the Pow­er­Gen Sec­ondary Schools crick­et league con­tin­ued yes­ter­day.

Hillview go­ing in­to the match with a three-point lead af­ter two rounds, bat­ted first and scored 99 all out with na­tion­al play­er Avinash Ma­habirs­ingh tak­ing five wick­ets for 27 runs and Cephas Coop­er fresh from West In­dies U-19 du­ties 2/15.

Naps in re­ply slipped to 30 for five un­der bril­liant bowl­ing by spin­ner Ka­reem Mu­radali but Coop­er with 24 and Troy Sookraj 20 not out kept them in the game. How­ev­er, Mu­radali was too good on the day tak­ing 5/14 to bowl out Naps for 96.

At Mu­cu­rapo, a fine all round per­for­mance by Josh Dook­ie took Fa­ti­ma to a six-wick­et win over Bar­rack­pore West. He grabbed 4/27 to bowl out Bar­rack­pore for 109 and then scored an un­beat­en 41 to take his school home at 110/4 af­ter they had slipped to 39/4.

At La Ro­maine, To­bag­on­ian Joshua James scored a won­der­ful even 100 to take Sig­nal Hill to 161 all out but it proved in­ad­e­quate as na­tion­al un­der-17 cap­tain Mbe­ki Joseph scored 61 to take St./ Bene­dicts to 162/5 for their first win of the tour­na­ment.

Pre­sen­ta­tion Col­lege took the Cen­tral Der­by beat­ing Cara­pichaima East by eight wick­ets at Ch­agua­nas. Cara­pichaima East bat­ted first and scored 131 all out with James Dun­can scor­ing 34 and Tariq Khan 27. Jay­den Seales was the pick of the bowlers for Pres tak­ing 3/22 while Anil Pit­ti­ram nabbed 2/5). Pre­sen­ta­tion Ch­agua­nas in re­sponse reached 132/2 with Shi­va Ra­goo­bar get­ting 36 and Aneil Piti­ram 31.
