Na­pari­ma Col­lege con­tin­ued the win­ning trend that kept them ahead on the 16-team stand­ings in the Pre­mier­ship Di­vi­sion of the Sec­ondary Schools Foot­ball League (SS­FL) af­ter drub­bing low­ly Cara­pichaima Sec­ondary School 3-0 at their Lewis Street Ground, San Fer­nan­do home on Sat­ur­day.

The win moved the for­mer Na­tion­al cham­pi­ons 18 points in the stand­ings. The re­sult was ex­pect­ed, as Naps, en­ter­ing the match as over­whelm­ing favourites, hav­ing played un­beat­en to date, were up against a team yet to win their first game. And the South­ern­ers did not dis­ap­point, with goals com­ing from the boot of Jer­rel Coop­er, Ryan Radel­lant, and Jay­don Ca­pri­et­ta. How­ev­er, they face their south­ern arch ri­val, St Bene­dict’s Col­lege, in a match that could go in any di­rec­tion on Wednes­day at Lewis Street in San Fer­nan­do.

On­ly the day be­fore, Naps man­ag­er Per­cy Sam­lals­ingh said his charges were not go­ing to take any team for grant­ed, de­spite Cara­pichaima's win­less sea­son to date.

De­spite their win­ning ways, Fa­ti­ma Col­lege, last year’s League and North Zone In­ter­Col cham­pi­ons, kept two points off the lead­ers by ham­mer­ing St Au­gus­tine 5-1 at their Mu­cu­rapo Road home. Still to be beat­en this sea­son, af­ter their open­ing-sea­son tri­umph, the Na­tion­al Gas Com­pa­ny (NGC) Su­per Cup win against St Bene­dict’s Col­lege has lift­ed their youth­ful out­fit. Fa­ti­ma took ear­ly con­trol and nev­er let go.

Their win came cour­tesy of dou­ble strikes from Ja­heim Bai­ley and Josi­ah Fer­nan­des, with the mul­ti­tal­ent­ed Seth Hadeed adding the oth­er goal. Mean­while, Gio­van­ni Hospedales scored the lone item for St Au­gus­tine Sec­ondary, which is known as ‘The Green Ma­chine'.

Co­in­ci­den­tal­ly, it was the first loss for the Green Ma­chine, which en­tered the con­test with two wins and three drawn match­es out of five match­es.

At the Man­nie Ramjohn Sta­di­um in Mara­bel­la, Pre­sen­ta­tion Col­lege pre­vailed 1-0 in a dicey con­test over Queen’s Roy­al Col­lege to move to 15 points. The lone item came from their pro­lif­ic scor­er, Isa­iah Ja­cob, who has now scored in al­most every game they played. The win al­so snapped a five-game win­ning streak by the Roy­alians, who will now have to pick them­selves up, St Au­gus­tine Sec­ondary be­ing their next op­po­nent at their Ser­pen­tine Road home.
