The Na­tion­al Ten­nis Cham­pi­onship, spon­sored by Massy Mo­tors, will make a re­turn Mon­day (June 10) af­ter a four-year hia­tus at the Na­tion­al Rac­quet Cen­tre, Or­ange Grove Road in Tacarigua from 5 pm.

To­day's start of play will fea­ture match­es in the men's Open Sin­gles, women's Open Sin­gles, men's 45 and Over Sin­gles, women's 35 and Over Sin­gles as well as the men, women and mixed Dou­bles.

For this year's com­pe­ti­tion, the men's Open field will show­case most of the biggest names in lo­cal ten­nis in­clu­sive of two-time na­tion­al cham­pi­on Joseph Cado­gan who is the top seed in the 64-play­er draw along with sec­ond-seed­ed Se­bastien Byng, third-ranked Akiel Duke, fourth-ranked Kale Dal­la Cos­ta while for­mer cham­pi­ons Vaughn Wil­son (sev­enth), Richard Chung (ninth) and Nabeel Mo­hammed are al­so seed­ed with Bar­ba­di­an An­drew Thorn­ton, seed­ed fifth.

In the women's Open draw, El­la Car­ring­ton who won the East Clas­si­fied Tour­na­ment last month, her first se­nior crown, is the top-seed­ed play­er with teenag­er Jor­dane Dook­ie, the Tran­quil­li­ty Open reign­ing cham­pi­on ranked sec­ond and like the top two seeds in the men's draw, will be on a bye in the first round of their 16-play­er draw.

The duo of Lee-Anne Lin­go and Char­lotte Ready, the third and fourth-seed­ed play­ers, re­spec­tive­ly, have al­so been grant­ed round-of-16 byes in their draws.

The tour­na­ment will be con­test­ed from 5 pm on week days, and from 10 am on week­ends.
