More than 90 nom­i­nees across over 29 sport­ing dis­ci­plines, in­clu­sive of cy­clist Nicholas Paul and Te­niel Camp­bell, bad­minton’s Ama­ra Urquhart and Ethan Ram­cha­ran, hock­ey’s Nicholas Siu Butt and Shaquille Danielle, and foot­ball’s Orielle Mar­tin and Dar­rel Gar­cia, among many oth­ers, have been se­lect­ed for the pres­ti­gious ti­tles of the First Cit­i­zens Sports­man and Sports­woman of the Year 2025 on Sat­ur­day, Jan­u­ary 17, 2026, at the Na­tion­al Acad­e­my for the Per­form­ing Arts, Port-of-Spain.

The evening will fea­ture spec­tac­u­lar per­for­mances, com­pelling sto­ry­telling, and the posthu­mous in­duc­tion of dis­tin­guished sport­ing icons in­to the First Cit­i­zens Sports Hall of Fame. View­ers and guests can ex­pect an in­spir­ing show­case that ho­n­ours a lega­cy of ex­cel­lence while chart­ing the path for­ward for fu­ture gen­er­a­tions of ath­letes.

Un­der the in­spir­ing theme “Lega­cy Takes Flight,” the 2025 edi­tion, which will be the 63rd edi­tion of the event, will spot­light the ath­letes whose jour­neys have el­e­vat­ed the stan­dard of sport, in­spired fu­ture gen­er­a­tions, and pro­pelled T&T on­to the glob­al stage.

As the awards soar in­to a new era, the pro­gramme will pay trib­ute, not on­ly to ex­tra­or­di­nary ac­com­plish­ments, but al­so to the long-last­ing im­pact of dis­ci­pline, men­tor­ship, and na­tion­al pride.

This year’s theme, Lega­cy Takes Flight, re­flects the foun­da­tion’s com­mit­ment to ho­n­our­ing those whose con­tri­bu­tions to sport con­tin­ue to up­lift and in­spire.
