Red Force batsman Kamil Pooran led Bess Motors Blue Devils to the final of the Dream XI Trinidad T10 Blast with a seven-wicket win over Samp Army Cocrico Cavaliers in the first Eliminator at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Saturday.

The Central Sports opener slammed three maximums and five fours in a 15-ball 40 and was assisted by Crystian Thurton, who scored 20 not out, and Kirstan Kallicharan (16), with whom he shared an opening stand of 32 in two overs.

They were going after a small target of 94 and got the required runs in only six overs and five balls in a whirlwind effort to win by seven wickets.

Earlier, Kyle Ramdoo slammed an unbeaten 51 from 29 balls to lead Cocrico Cavaliers to 93 for four from their 20 overs.

The Queens Park batter hit six sixes in his knock and was supported by Red Force and Central Sports opener Kjorn Ottley, who scored an 11-ball 16.

While Blue Devils booked their place in today’s final, the Cavaliers will have another bite at the cherry when they face Soca Kings in the second eliminator today.

Soca Kings beat Chicago Steelpan Players, who fell to their fourth loss in five matches with one no-result, after a strong start that saw them on top of the standings for a while.

Soca Kings were led by Tion Webster’s unbeaten 83 as the Santa Cruz native slammed nine fours and six sixes in his 34-ball knock.

Clarke Road’s Red Force all-rounder, Tobagonian Joshua James, got an 8-ball 16 as he was their next best batter on show.

With their efforts, Soca Kings danced to 122 for 4 from their ten overs.

In reply, Steelpan Players could not match the tune played by the Soca Kings, as they only got to 103 all out, two balls into the final over.

Sidel Diaz, promoted back to open, scored 15 from ten for a sedate start. But 31 (14 balls) and (11 balls) from Silus Cooper and 26 from Akeil Cooper gave them hope, setting them up at 85 for four in 6 overs and 5 balls.

Needing 38 runs to win from 19 balls, they crumbled to the medium pace of Dejourn Charles. The tall all-rounder, known more for his explosive batting, took four for 14 as Steelpan Players folded to 103 to lose by 19 runs.

Soca Kings will hope to continue the music today in the second eliminator against the Cavaliers for the right to face the Blue Devils in today’s final.
