Presentation College Chaguanas inched closer to the Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) title with a comprehensive 140-run win over Vishnu Boys Hindu College in Chaguanas on Tuesdayday.
Having lost to Fatima College in their only blemish this season before Tuesday, Vishnu needed a win to keep the title race down to the wire heading into the final two rounds. Instead, they were overtaken by Presentation College San Fernando who got 16 points from a default win from El Dorado East Secondary.
Presentation Chaguanas scored 225 all out in 49 overs batting first despite the absence of Fareez Ali and Jaydon Joseph, due to injuries. Justin Jagessar stepped up and scored 121.
In reply, Vishnu Boys were bowled out for a disappointing and surprising 85. Only Aaron Bassant gave any resistance with 47.
Aneal Rooplal and Alexander Chase were the chief destroyers with three and two wickets, respectively.
The surprise result yesterday was at Mucurapo Road where the visiting Naparima College scored a four-wicket win over the host team.
Fatima batted first and scored 216 for eight in their 50 overs with Isaiah Fernandes scoring 53 and Zachary Siewah getting to 47. Matthew Cooper and Roberti Badree took two wickets each for “Naps”.
