The Queen’s Park Cricket Club’s (QPCC) 8-A-Side Football Tournament came to a fitting conclusion at the Queen’s Park Oval in St Clair, Port-of-Spain on Friday with all the divisional and individual winners being awarded.
Following on from MurphyClarke’s lifting of the first title in the tournament, the Over-60 Division crown, the quartet of Ansa Merchant Bank (36-45), The Pouch Company (35 and Under), Q Power Battery (46 to 53) and Security Analyst Services (SAS) all captured their divisional titles.
Led by the prolific Devon Modeste who netted his league-best 11 goals in the tournament, ANSA Merchant Bank repeated as champion of the 36 to 45 age group with 28 points from their 12 matches on the seven-team table, nine ahead of Harts while C-Sport ended in the third spot with 18 points, ahead of Domino’s due to a superior goal difference.
In the 35 and Under Division, debutants The Pouch Company, inspired by Winston Guerra’s 13 goals, stormed to the title with a whopping 35 points from 14 matches, eight more than Karcher while Full Barrel Sports Bar, who also got 13 goals from Kyle Mowser was third with 25.
Jeffrey Dalton-Brown was named the “Golden Boot” and “Most Valuable Player” (MVP) award recipient in leading Q Power Battery to the title in the 46 to 53 Division with 24 points from ten matches, nine clear of Ultimate Events with Mini Bar taking the third spot on goal difference from last year’s winner Precision Cyber after both teams ended with 13 points each.
The trio of Sean Ramdoo (Golden Boot), Rigel Gomes (Best Goalkeeper) and Geoffrey Wharton-Lake (MVP), all of Security Analyst Security played instrumental roles in helping their team dethrone All Out Sports Bar as winners of the 54 to 60 Division with 23 points from 12 matches, two ahead of All Out with Steel Drum, third due to a better goal aggregate than House Hunters after both ended with 18 points each.
