Four week­ends of ac­tion-packed bas­ket­ball show­cas­ing the top col­lege tal­ent will un­fold at the East­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sport­ing Are­na in Tacarigua, start­ing Sat­ur­day (Oc­to­ber 4).

Bas­ket­ball fans are in for a thrilling new chap­ter in lo­cal sports with the in­au­gur­al RBC Roy­al Slam Col­lege Bas­ket­ball Tour­na­ment.

This new­ly mint­ed tour­na­ment, a col­lab­o­ra­tion be­tween Next Lev­el Per­for­mance (NLP) and the T&T Schools Bas­ket­ball As­so­ci­a­tion (TTS­BA), brings to­geth­er eight of the top bas­ket­ball col­leges in a high-en­er­gy com­pe­ti­tion de­signed to show­case the na­tion’s best young tal­ent and el­e­vate the pro­file of school bas­ket­ball in Trinidad and To­ba­go. Some of the no­table Col­leges tak­ing part are Fa­ti­ma Col­lege, the cur­rent na­tion­al Un­der-17 ti­tle hold­ers, Holy Cross Col­lege, St Mary's Col­lege, Pre­sen­ta­tion Col­lege, and St An­tho­ny's Col­lege. Miss­ing are the U-17 na­tion­al run­ners-up, Trin­i­ty East Col­lege, as they are cur­rent­ly with­out a coach.

Over the four week­ends of ex­cit­ing bas­ket­ball, two games are sched­uled for each day at 5 pm and 7 pm. The event will fea­ture in­tense match-ups and elite-lev­el play, of­fer­ing ath­letes an op­por­tu­ni­ty to shine be­fore scouts, coach­es, and bas­ket­ball en­thu­si­asts.

The of­fi­cial open­ing cer­e­mo­ny is card­ed for Sun­day (Oc­to­ber 5) at 5 pm. Ex­pect­ed spe­cial guests in­clude Clint Wil­son, act­ing pres­i­dent, Na­tion­al Bas­ket­ball Fed­er­a­tion of T&T (NBFTT), Garvin War­wick, Next Lev­el Per­for­mance pres­i­dent, Al­li­son Bas­t­ian, TTS­BA pres­i­dent, and Marc Jar­dine, Se­nior Ex­ec­u­tive, RBC Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor & Vice Pres­i­dent, Com­mer­cial Busi­ness.

"The RBC Roy­al Slam Col­lege’s Bas­ket­ball Tour­na­ment is more than com­pe­ti­tion; it’s a plat­form to pro­pel stu­dent-ath­letes to high­er lev­els of achieve­ment and vis­i­bil­i­ty,” said War­wick. "We’re proud to part­ner with TTS­BA and RBC to cre­ate an event that not on­ly cel­e­brates tal­ent but al­so builds path­ways for fu­ture suc­cess.”
