Four weekends of action-packed basketball showcasing the top college talent will unfold at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sporting Arena in Tacarigua, starting Saturday (October 4).
Basketball fans are in for a thrilling new chapter in local sports with the inaugural RBC Royal Slam College Basketball Tournament.
This newly minted tournament, a collaboration between Next Level Performance (NLP) and the T&T Schools Basketball Association (TTSBA), brings together eight of the top basketball colleges in a high-energy competition designed to showcase the nation’s best young talent and elevate the profile of school basketball in Trinidad and Tobago. Some of the notable Colleges taking part are Fatima College, the current national Under-17 title holders, Holy Cross College, St Mary's College, Presentation College, and St Anthony's College. Missing are the U-17 national runners-up, Trinity East College, as they are currently without a coach.
Over the four weekends of exciting basketball, two games are scheduled for each day at 5 pm and 7 pm. The event will feature intense match-ups and elite-level play, offering athletes an opportunity to shine before scouts, coaches, and basketball enthusiasts.
The official opening ceremony is carded for Sunday (October 5) at 5 pm. Expected special guests include Clint Wilson, acting president, National Basketball Federation of T&T (NBFTT), Garvin Warwick, Next Level Performance president, Allison Bastian, TTSBA president, and Marc Jardine, Senior Executive, RBC Managing Director & Vice President, Commercial Business.
"The RBC Royal Slam College’s Basketball Tournament is more than competition; it’s a platform to propel student-athletes to higher levels of achievement and visibility,” said Warwick. "We’re proud to partner with TTSBA and RBC to create an event that not only celebrates talent but also builds pathways for future success.”
