T&T Red Force team which is leading the standing in Group A of the Regional Super50 Tournament will take on the Windies B in the fourth round when competition continues today, Thursday at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port-of-Spain, looking to widen the team's points advantage over the others.
Red Force despite its challenges with the bat in the series so far, has basically ridden on its bowler's prowess to win the three matches it contested to date.
The only batsmen that have shown fight thus far are Nicholas Pooran who has notched three half-centuries to date and Kyle Hope who also shown good form with a match-saving half-century (50) against Canada.
The Red Force which is the strongest team on paper is yet to set the place afire as the team's highly touted batting line up has failed to click. However, today, the technical staff will be hoping that the top order can find some form against a good Windies B team attack that has in the likes as the talented pacers in Alzari Joseph and Ronsford Beaton.
Meanwhile, Pooran has saved the day on three occasions for the locals with scores of 88, 75, and 66. He will be looking to continue his good form against the Windies B who is fourth in the standings on six points - seven behind the Red Force.
Expected to be fully fit for the encounter are batsmen Darren Bravo and Jason Mohammed. The coaching team led by former national all-rounder Kelvin Williams will be hoping these batsmen get enough cricket under their belts before the business end of the tournament. After the preliminary rounds, the top two teams from Group A will travel to Barbados to play the top two teams from Group B in the semi-finals.
In the other match on today's programme, Guyana plays the Windwards in a keen tussle at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba. Guyana is second in the standings with 10 point, followed by the Windwards on seven.
Both matches get underway at 2 pm.
