The Royhil Seals Water Polo Club made a significant impact at the Curaçao Aquatics Association Summer Water Polo Tournament over the past week, culminating in an exciting finals day on Saturday.
Representing Trinidad and Tobago with pride, the Port-of-Spain-based club fielded two teams in the Under-14 Coed category and one team each in the Under-16 Girls and Under-16 Coed categories. They faced off against top-tier clubs from Curaçao and Peru.
In the Under-14 Coed division, it was an all-Royhil final, as both teams won their semifinal matches. In a thrilling and closely contested game, Royhil Seals A narrowly defeated Royhil Seals B, 19–14, securing both gold and silver medals for the club. Giovanni Felician-Moses was the standout player, scoring six goals for Team A, while Shane Gransaull contributed four goals for Team B.
The club’s Under-16 Girls delivered an impressive performance, bouncing back from a first-game loss to the Orcas Club of Curaçao to claim gold in a best-of-seven series.
After losing the first match, the Trinidad and Tobago girls won three consecutive games. Although the Orcas pushed the series to a sixth game, the determined Seals regrouped and finished strong with a 5–3 victory, winning the series 4–2 and taking the top spot on the podium.
Meanwhile, in the Under-16 Coed category, Royhil Seals secured a bronze medal, finishing behind Aquatica of Peru and the Orcas of Curaçao.
Despite the challenges in the U16 Coed division, the tournament was a significant success for Royhil Seals, who walked away with two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze across all age groups.
