San Juan South Sec­ondary School and In­ter­na­tion­al School of Port-of-Spain (ISPS) copped two ti­tles each when the Na­tion­al Sec­ondary Schools Vol­ley­ball League Cham­pi­onship con­clud­ed at the In­ter­na­tion­al School of Port-of-Spain Gym­na­si­um, In­ter­na­tion­al Dri­ve, West­moor­ings on Sun­day.

In the Boys Open Di­vi­sion fi­nal, San Juan South Sec­ondary made light work of op­po­nents Maple Leaf In­ter­na­tion­al School to come away with a 15-3, 15-5 tri­umph.

When the semi­fi­nals were con­test­ed ear­li­er in the week at the South­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na, Pleas­antville, San Fer­nan­do, San Juan South Sec­ondary bat­tled past Iere High Sec­ondary School 15-12, 20-18, and Maple Leaf In­ter­na­tion­al School dis­missed Bar­rack­pore West Sec­ondary 15-13, 15-6.

Dur­ing Sun­day’s pro­gramme, San Juan South Sec­ondary School won their first ti­tle when they de­feat­ed the host In­ter­na­tion­al School of Port-of-Spain 15-9, 15-12 in the Boys Un­der-16 ti­tle match.

This was af­ter San Juan South Sec­ondary de­feat­ed Bar­rack­pore West Sec­ondary 15-6, 15-11 in their semi­fi­nal while In­ter­na­tion­al School hum­bled St George’s Col­lege 17-15, 15-4.

ISPS claims U-14, U-16 girls ti­tles

When the day of fi­nals served off at West­moor­ings, In­ter­na­tion­al School PoS lift­ed the first ti­tle on of­fer when they bat­tled past ri­vals Maple Leaf In­ter­na­tion­al School 15-2, 11-15, 15-10 in the Girls Un­der-14 fi­nal.

In­ter­na­tion­al School of (PoS) had brushed aside Tu­na­puna South Sec­ondary 15-6, 15-6 in the fi­nal-four en­counter, and, Maple Leaf scold­ed St Joseph Con­vent (Port-of-Spain) 15-5, 15-5 in their semi­fi­nal.

In the Un­der-16 Girls age group, the In­ter­na­tion­al School of Port-of-Spain (ISPS) over­came South East Port-of-Spain Sec­ondary 15-12, 15-8 to take home the cov­et­ed ti­tle.

In the semi­fi­nals played at Pleas­antville last week, ISPS ce­ment­ed a spot in the fi­nal af­ter de­feat­ing St Joseph’s Con­vent, Port-of-Spain, 15-10, 15-7 in their semi­fi­nal, and South East Port-of-Spain (SE­PoS) hum­bled Ari­ma North 15-6, 15-5 in the oth­er fi­nal-four match.

Bish­op Anstey cops U-20 girls crown

Not to be over­shad­owed, Bish­op Anstey High School Port-of-Spain cap­tured the Girls’ Open Di­vi­sion ti­tle when they de­nied In­ter­na­tion­al School of Port-of-Spain (ISPS) a third ti­tle on the day cour­tesy of a 14-16, 15-13, 15-11 vic­to­ry.

In their re­spec­tive semi­fi­nals played at Pleas­antville last week, Bish­op Anstey High School (PoS) bat­tled past AS­JA Girls Col­lege 15-8, 15-13, and ISPS with­stood a stub­born test from St Joseph’s Con­vent (PoS) to pre­vail in their best-of-three sets con­test 15-13, 15-12.

Up next on the cal­en­dar will be the T&T Vol­ley­ball Fed­er­a­tion Su­per League ‘A’ and ‘B’ Di­vi­sions as well as the Cor­po­rate League, De­vel­op­ment Fes­ti­val, and Pre­mier League, re­spec­tive­ly.
