MAN­CHES­TER, Eng­land – Man­ches­ter City’s su­per­star strik­er Khadi­ja ‘Bun­ny’ Shaw has signed a new four-year con­tract that will tie her to the club un­til 2030.

The 29-year-old Ja­maican in­ter­na­tion­al looked set to leave the club for Chelsea af­ter con­tract ne­go­ti­a­tions be­tween City broke down.

How­ev­er, in a stun­ning turn of events, Shaw an­nounced her new deal on stage at City’s end-of-sea­son cel­e­bra­tions, where she re­ceived the Play­er of the Sea­son tro­phy.

“Hap­py to an­nounce I will be stay­ing at the foot­ball club,” Shaw said be­fore be­ing mobbed by her team­mates.

“I am still here, I am still hun­gry and there is no place I would rather be.”

Shaw fin­ished as the WSL’s top scor­er for a third suc­ces­sive sea­son, net­ting 21 goals in 22 games as City won the ti­tle for the first time since 2016.

This sea­son she al­so won the Foot­ball Writ­ers’ As­so­ci­a­tion Women’s Foot­baller of the Year award and was named WSL Play­er of the Sea­son.

Since join­ing City in 2021, she has 117 goals in 137 ap­pear­ances and is the club’s record goalscor­er.

“It’s a huge state­ment from City that we’ve se­cured the ser­vices of one of the best cen­tre-for­wards in the world,” said di­rec­tor of foot­ball Therese Sjo­gran.
