MANCHESTER, England – Manchester City’s superstar striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has signed a new four-year contract that will tie her to the club until 2030.
The 29-year-old Jamaican international looked set to leave the club for Chelsea after contract negotiations between City broke down.
However, in a stunning turn of events, Shaw announced her new deal on stage at City’s end-of-season celebrations, where she received the Player of the Season trophy.
“Happy to announce I will be staying at the football club,” Shaw said before being mobbed by her teammates.
“I am still here, I am still hungry and there is no place I would rather be.”
Shaw finished as the WSL’s top scorer for a third successive season, netting 21 goals in 22 games as City won the title for the first time since 2016.
This season she also won the Football Writers’ Association Women’s Footballer of the Year award and was named WSL Player of the Season.
Since joining City in 2021, she has 117 goals in 137 appearances and is the club’s record goalscorer.
“It’s a huge statement from City that we’ve secured the services of one of the best centre-forwards in the world,” said director of football Therese Sjogran.
