Local duo Aaron Siewlal and Darren Belfon along with Barbadian Amiya Harrison all won two gold medals each when the Aquatics Sports Association of T&T (ASATT) December Invitational Swimming Championships continued at the National Aquatic Centre in Balmain, Couva, on Saturday night.
Siewlal, 12, swam to gold medals in the 11-12 boys' 100 metres butterfly in one minute, 05.62 seconds a Carifta 'B' qualification mark and added his second gold on the night in the 200m backstroke in two minutes, 36.21 seconds, another Carifta 'B' qualification time.
The 14-year-old Belfon, of Point Fortin Aqua Darts, who also won two gold medals on Saturday morning added victories in the 13-14 boys' 100m butterfly in 57.74 seconds a Carifta ‘B’ qualifying mark, and the 200m backstroke also in a Carifta 'B' time of two minutes, 16.08 seconds.
The 12-year-old Harrison of High Tide Stingrays Swim Club won gold in the 11-12 girls' 50m breaststroke in a Carifta 'B' mark of 38.00 seconds, and the 200m backstroke in another Carifta 'B' time of two minutes, 45.95 seconds.
There was also a win each for Asia-Marie Pouchet, Keryn Burke, Zoe Anthony, Athalia Giddings, Zalayhar Lewis, Anya Davis, Tyla Ho-A-Shu, Madison Mac Millan, and Kiara Goodridge in the girls' while Aqeel Joseph, Josuah Parris, Alessandro Bazzoni, Zachary Burke, Anphernee Bernard, Chase Thompson, and Johann-Matthew Matamoro added a victory in the boys' competition as well on the night.
In the relays, local club Flying Fish won three of the eight events with Marlins and Bluefins Aquatics adding two each to their coffers, the trio of Blue Dolphins, Red, White and Black and Black Sails Swim Club of Barbados, one each.
In yesterday's morning penultimate session, Zara Persico, Isabella Mayers, Bianca Mitchell, Dan Suri, Zahara Anthony, Harrison, Mac Millan, Zoe Anthony, Aungelique Liddie, Anya De Gannes, Siewlal, Belfon, Raekwon Noel, Parris, Bazzoni, Zachary Burke, Isaiah Alexander, Zachary Anthony, Naeem De Souza, Jaden Chin Hong, Stetano Mitchell, Jai Sindi, Jadon Ramdeen and Quillon Leera, all won one event each. The meet was scheduled to end last night.
