Sav­it­ree Singh cap­tured the first ti­tle at stake in the Metro Ho­tel Chetwynd End of Year Open Sin­gles Ten­nis Tour­na­ment when she won the Women's Open round-robin ti­tle with a per­fect 3-0 record at Up­per St Vin­cent Street in Tu­na­puna, Sat­ur­day.

En­ter­ing her fi­nal round-robin clash with a 2-0 record af­ter wins against Sherisse Ar­joon and Char­lene Teles­ford, Singh emerged with a 6-1, 6-3 tri­umph against Sarah Sa­landy to take home the ti­tle. Sa­landy had ear­li­er in the day out­played Sherisse Ar­joon, 6-4, 7-5, with the lat­ter end­ing in the third spot with a 1-2 record af­ter get­ting the bet­ter of win­less Teles­ford for her lone win.

In the Men's A Di­vi­sion, Ask­ia Richards beat Adisa Ide­mu­dia 6-0, 6-1 in their quar­ter­fi­nal to set up a meet­ing with Nabeel Mo­hammed while Kristyan Valen­tine awaits the win­ner of to­day's re­main­ing quar­ter­fi­nal be­tween Ke­shan Moonasar and Seve Day in the oth­er semi­fi­nal.

There were com­fort­able wins for Steven An­der­son and Adisa Ide­mu­dia in the Men's B Di­vi­sion over Kier­an Gomes 6-1,7-5, and 6-0, 6-0, re­spec­tive­ly, while Cliff Meade was lead­ing 6-2 against Nigel Hors­ford when the lat­ter re­tired.

For­mer na­tion­al crick­eter Surj Ra­goonath al­so re­tired trail­ing 2-6, 1-1 against Robert Cae­sar in their Over-45 Di­vi­sion match-up while in a late en­counter, Gary Siew­dass won by walkover in the Over-60 cat­e­go­ry against Narad Ram­s­ingh and bat­tled Win­ston John af­ter­wards. Siew­dass went on to de­feat John, 6-1, 6-4.
