LaToya Thomas' exploits as a goal-shooter earned Jabloteh its second win in as many matches in the Championship Division of the Courts All Sectors Netball League on Thursday (February 15) evening.
The prolific goal-getter was almost perfect, sinking 27 of her 32 attempts on the evening as Jabloteh crushed Police Netball Youth Club (PNYC) 43-24 at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Tacarigua.
Thomas was not all alone though, her brimming confidence infected teammate, goal-attack Giselle Hobson who also contributed 16 from 21 in a match that was tilted in Jabloteh's favour from the start.
The women from San Juan raced off to a 12-4 advantage in the first quarter and while being backed by a steady defensive backline, they almost solidified the win at the halfway stage 23-11, considering the PNYC total.
Despite a seemingly hopeless scoreline, Maria Harradan led the scoring for PNYC which kept the Jabloteh women on their toes. Harradan delivered a 50-percent 10 from 20 goals, while the pair of Nicola Gill and Kaliyah Cooper had identical scores of five from nine and Rayshenelle Rouff added the other four goals from 12 tries in the losing effort.
Meanwhile, the Unit Trust Corporation (UTC) Sparks were also winners after thrashing the University of T&T (UTT) 46-21 in another championship division contest.
Leading the win was the pair of Akiela O'Neil (20/32) and Crystal Noel Cockburn (22/29), both of whom led a domination of all quarters in the match- 8-7 in the first, 21-11 in the second and 34-14 at the end of the third stanza.
For the University team, Jelissa Goodridge scored the bulk of UTT points, draining 17 from her 26 attempts. The other four points were gobbled up by Kaylea Joy Songui scoring four from nine tries, but with the result falling heavily against them, the university women would have lots to do in the coming matches.
