La­Toya Thomas' ex­ploits as a goal-shoot­er earned Jabloteh its sec­ond win in as many match­es in the Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion of the Courts All Sec­tors Net­ball League on Thurs­day (Feb­ru­ary 15) evening.

The pro­lif­ic goal-get­ter was al­most per­fect, sink­ing 27 of her 32 at­tempts on the evening as Jabloteh crushed Po­lice Net­ball Youth Club (PNYC) 43-24 at the East­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na in Tacarigua.

Thomas was not all alone though, her brim­ming con­fi­dence in­fect­ed team­mate, goal-at­tack Giselle Hob­son who al­so con­tributed 16 from 21 in a match that was tilt­ed in Jabloteh's favour from the start.

The women from San Juan raced off to a 12-4 ad­van­tage in the first quar­ter and while be­ing backed by a steady de­fen­sive back­line, they al­most so­lid­i­fied the win at the halfway stage 23-11, con­sid­er­ing the PNYC to­tal.

De­spite a seem­ing­ly hope­less score­line, Maria Har­radan led the scor­ing for PNYC which kept the Jabloteh women on their toes. Har­radan de­liv­ered a 50-per­cent 10 from 20 goals, while the pair of Nico­la Gill and Kaliyah Coop­er had iden­ti­cal scores of five from nine and Rayshenelle Rouff added the oth­er four goals from 12 tries in the los­ing ef­fort.

Mean­while, the Unit Trust Cor­po­ra­tion (UTC) Sparks were al­so win­ners af­ter thrash­ing the Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT) 46-21 in an­oth­er cham­pi­onship di­vi­sion con­test.

Lead­ing the win was the pair of Akiela O'Neil (20/32) and Crys­tal Noel Cock­burn (22/29), both of whom led a dom­i­na­tion of all quar­ters in the match- 8-7 in the first, 21-11 in the sec­ond and 34-14 at the end of the third stan­za.

For the Uni­ver­si­ty team, Jelis­sa Goodridge scored the bulk of UTT points, drain­ing 17 from her 26 at­tempts. The oth­er four points were gob­bled up by Kaylea Joy Songui scor­ing four from nine tries, but with the re­sult falling heav­i­ly against them, the uni­ver­si­ty women would have lots to do in the com­ing match­es.
