USA-based duo Liam Trepte and Alexi Ramirez rode to victories in the men's and women's elite Under-23 categories, respectively, when the T&T Cycling Federation (TTCF) National Road Cycling Criterium Championships at the Tamana In-Tech Park on Sunday (September 21).
In the Elite/U-23 men, the 24-year-old Trepte of Team BSR/USA topped the field in the 25-lap event with a time of one hour, eight minutes, 41.18 seconds beating main rival Tariq Woods of Evolution Cycling Academy, and Ainsley Gay of Titans Cycle & Multisport into the second and third spots, respectively.
Kirtson George of Heatwave crossed the line in a creditable fourth spot while Akil Campbell of PSL was a disappointing fifth followed by Dave Cooper (Titans Cycle & Multisport), and the Heatwave quartet of Guy Costa, Tesfa Hamilton, Marc Ogiste and Sergio Marques-Pita.
Ramirez of Team Golden State Blazers secured the top spot in the Elite/U-23 women eight-laps ride in 25 minutes, 02.45 seconds with Phoebe Sandy of Madonna Wheelers second, and Marsha Trepte of Raiders Cycle & Multi-Sport, third.
Up next on the TTCF agenda is the Mountain Bike Challenge final on Sunday at Samaan Park, Chaguaramas; the Road Challenge final on October 19 and the Track Challenge final on November 1.
