Team T&T delivered a commendable performance, finishing fifth overall at the 2025 Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships at Grande Reserve Golf Course in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, which concluded Thursday (July 31).
The tournament was won by host nation Puerto Rico, which amassed 162 points across the competition, with the Dominican Republic second with 126 points. The Bahamas (124) and Jamaica (100) placed third and fourth.
On their way to amassing 97 points, the fifth-place finish by T&T’s golfers was underscored by a first-place overall finish in the Girls’ 11-13 age group, while placing third in the Boys’ 15 & under and in the Boys’ 18 & under divisions.
Among 13 nations vying to capture the Hank James trophy, which is given to the championship’s winning country, T&T’s eight-member team amassed 97 points over the four days of competition from Monday to Thursday (July 28-31).
Over 100 of the region’s best junior golfers teed off at the region’s most recognised youth golf event, competing in six individual age groups.
Isabella Ramdeen was T&T’s best individual performer, placing second in the Girls’ 11-13 division, and led T&T to winning that division. Ramdeen shot 74 on day one, 79 on day two and 80 on day three of the event, to finish with a final score of +17. The individual Girls 11-13 winner was Bermuda’s Darina Betschart, who shot four under par.
T&T placed third overall in the Boys’ 15-17 age group, behind hosts Puerto Rico, which won the division, followed by the Dominican Republic in second. Ethan Collier placed fifth individually with a score of 24 over par (75, 82, 83) and was supported by Ben Laughlin with a +29 and Isaiah Rowley with a +31 final score.
The golfers in red, white and black finished tied for third in the Boys’ 18 & under with the Bahamas. Team captain Ross Ramkissoon placed seventh in the division with a +8 final score (73 + 73 + 78), while teammate Adam Green placed 18th with scores of 82, 82 and 82.
