MIAMI – T&T senior men's football team stayed in the top ten of the latest Concacaf rankings issued on Friday despite a slow start to their 2026 Concacaf Final Round World Cup qualifiers earlier this month.
The Dwight Yorke-coached Soca Warriors was held goalless at home by Curacao in their four-team Group B opener on September 5, before falling to a 0-2 loss away to Jamaica last Tuesday, to sit in the third spot in the group behind Jamaica who blanked Bermuda in their opening match has a maximum six points, while Curacao is second with four points after edging the Bermudans, 3-2 in their second match.
Suriname is one of the most improved teams, following an undefeated start in the Final Round of the Concacaf Group A Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a goalless draw at home to Panama, and a 2-1 win away to El Salvador to rise in the latest Concacaf Men's National Team Rankings.
The Concacaf Ranking Index grades all national teams across the confederation. Nations gain points for results in the Nations League, Gold Cup, World Cup Qualifiers, and other international matches.
Regionally, Jamaica keeps the lead in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) ranking, while Haiti and Suriname jump a place in the Caribbean Top 10.
Top ten overall ranked Jamaica, Haiti, and T&T to begin the top ten list in the Caribbean while at 11 is Suriname (1,282) and, 12th ranked Curaçao (1,246) complete the top five.
The quintet of Martinique (1,202), Guadeloupe (1,152), Guyana (1,057), Dominican Republic (1,044), and Cuba (1,019) complete the top ten in the subregion.
Reigning Concacaf Gold Cup and Nations League winners Mexico (2,024 points) retained the number one spot following back-to-back draws in friendlies against Japan and Korea Republic, respectively.
Fellow FIFA World Cup 26 co-hosts Canada (1,824) rose to second overall after away wins against Romania and Wales in international friendlies.
Panama (1,779), USA (1,726), and Costa Rica (1,691) round out the top five while Honduras (1,569), Jamaica (1,553), Haiti (1,411), Guatemala (1,409), and T&T (1,319) complete the top ten.
El Salvador (1,206) is the only team to move up in the Central America top ten, jumping up to fifth place in the subregion.
Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Guatemala begin the top four in Central America. Nicaragua (1,149), No 16 overall, and No 27 Belize (732) complete the list.
