T&T men's Un­der-19 crick­et team head­ed to St Vin­cent and the Grenadines on the week­end for the Crick­et West In­dies (CWI) Ris­ing Stars Men's Un­der-19 Cham­pi­onship which starts on Tues­day and runs un­til Au­gust 1.

The men's tour­na­ment will fea­ture five rounds of 50-over white ball match­es and four rounds of three-day red-ball match­es. These match­es will be played at Arnos Vales, Sion Hill, Park Hill, and Cum­ber­land.

The T&T Crick­et Board (TTCB) an­nounced the team that will be play­ing in St Vin­cent which was in­clu­sive of Fa­ti­ma Col­lege's cap­tain Joshua Davis. Davis guid­ed the Mu­cu­rapo-based in­sti­tu­tion to the fi­nal of the Sec­ondary Schools In­ter­col T20 Knock­out ti­tle ear­li­er this year and will be the one to lead a team con­sist­ing of play­ers who all earned their places for per­for­mances dur­ing both the Sec­ondary Schools' sea­son as well as the TTCB or­gan­ised In­ter-zone and U-19 Cup match­es.

The team will not be short on tal­ent, but in­stead, the skip­per will be ac­com­pa­nied by strik­ers such as Kyle Ram­doo, Kyle Kissoon­dath, and Nick Ram­lal.

Bat­ting all-rounders Zachary Siewah and Riyaad Mo­hammed would be con­sid­ered "re­serves" due to their out­stand­ing per­for­mances with bat­ting, bowl­ing, and field­ing through­out Fa­ti­ma's cam­paign. The bowl­ing at­tack will be led by duo Liam Mam­chan from Na­pari­ma Col­lege and Ja­cen Agard from Pre­sen­ta­tion Col­lege, San Fer­nan­do. Both bowlers helped guide their teams to ex­cel­lence in an un­beat­en 2023 run and the U-19 Pre­mier League dur­ing the Pre­mier­ship II cam­paign held by the TTCB.

These tour­na­ments are usu­al­ly used as a ma­jor plat­form to show­case tal­ent and fa­cil­i­tate progress. Up­com­ing West In­dies crick­eters are giv­en op­por­tu­ni­ties re­gion­al­ly and in­ter­na­tion­al­ly. Fol­low­ing this tour­na­ment, the West In­dies Ris­ing Stars U-19 team will be se­lect­ed for the Sri Lan­ka tour which will be a part of the prepa­ra­tion for the ICC Men's U-19 Crick­et World Cup.

The first round of match­es bowls off Tues­day. T&T takes on Bar­ba­dos at Sion Hill at 9.30 am.
